We're really pushing the "not news" envelope here.

I'm from Oregon, and even I don't give a shiat in the least.

Doubtful. This is the biggest issue annoying me right now.

/Pauses to imagine what life might be like if that were actually true.

At least you didn't "pull a penguin" and go for ice-cream while your car was in the shop.

I went to Sea Lion Cave once! And we saw an orca swimming up in the cave, but he didn't catch anything.

This is such a stupid story that it should be thrown against the wall. Russ, my friend who is a journalist, would have a fit.

In before the "How dare people spend money and effort on saving a stupid animal when they could be saving poor humans" crowd.

\how come nobody gets outraged at the money and effort people spend on purely recreational activities like skiing or stamp collecting?

MONSTERTRUCK: Going there is on my bucket list

Really?!?

We went there while riding our bicycles from San Francisco to Seattle. All I remember about it are that it is at the top of a very long hill, costs a small fortune to get in, and smells horrific.

Then a group of Canadians swarmed the place and beat all the sea lions to death.

Yeah, sea lions are pretty much the last thing anyone cares about. Plus, Sea Lion Caves smells like shiat and I can't imagine why any idiot tourist would willingly endure that to see an animal that they can just as well see in Florence or Newport.

The fisherman on the Oregon Coast hate them as well. They are obnoxious.

Meh.

But if you ever find yourself in the vicinity, Sea Lion Caves is absolutely worth the stop!

The caves themselves are pretty impressive with or without the sea lions.

And maybe it was just the time of year I was there but I found Cape Arago to be the best spot for sea lions. It seemed like there were hundreds of them on those rocks just offshore.

Yup. They freed this sea lion so that it could have a chance to swim up the Columbia River, go munch on some endangered salmon at Bonneville Dam and get shot (new window). Welcome to Oregon.
