Southern Germany here. It snowed like mad about two weeks ago and now we have 18 degrees C. Almost like early summer.

I have truck drivers in Albuquerque and Amarillo that had to shut down last night due to white-out conditions. One of them said the storm was blowing so hard he swore the snow was coming UP at him.

So, the first day of Spring, I leave to go to work this morning and there is 5" of snow on my car.

Nuts.

I brush it all off, back out of my space and swing around to exit the driveway. That's when I saw Spring's very first robin, huddled under my apartment building's dumpster, looking very, very pissed off.

Iowa weather. Always amusing.

I am all for this global cooling as long as the summers here aren't so miserable.

THIS. August is the only month it hasn't snow up here. It wasn't that long ago I remember sleet on the 4th of July, had to break out the winter coats, hats and gloves to watch the fireworks that night.

I was in Monterey, CA all week on a work trip. I just got back to Kansas yesterday. And to top it off, I packed my winter coat because I knew I would only need it when I got home, and the goddamn airline lost my suitcase.

This is the worst first day of spring ever.

Vernal equinox sounds like a disease.

You libs are hilarious. You realize since Obama got elected and Bush's global warming plan was cancelled, it's going to snow quite a bit more now. Stop biatching, this is what you wanted.

The weather you experience is not indicative of a global trend.

This non-story garnered no comments from the locals in Davenport. I remember the January and February I spent in Davenport back in 1978, the temps got above 32 exactly once, for about an hour one afternoon. The rest of the time they remained in the teens and single digits. Oddly enough, it snowed a total of about an inch throughout that period. Loved the sight of the Mississippi frozen solid outside my hotel window.

Yesterday in Oklahoma it was sunny 72. Right now it's snowing 30.
