(Cinematical)   Remaking Overboard, really? Well I guess it wasn't a horrible movie, oh and Goldie Hawn was in it, so you could get Kate Hudson to do her mom's role and....Jennifer Lopez? That's the stupidest farking thing I've ever heard   (cinematical.com) divider line 53

This needs a remake like Baseketball needs a remake.

Seriously, Hollywood, if you're that hard up for ideas, I have a million of them.

Gigli aside, J-Lo really isn't THAT terrible of an actress. Out of Sight was a decent flick.

Will she be wearing the same bathing suit?

R.A.Danny: Will she be wearing the same bathing suit?

Yeah, that's the important question. Because then I'd watch at least five minutes of it.

As long as it's washed first to get rid of the Hawn taint.

You said taint.

Kurt Russel made that movie watchable. Without him, it's doomed to fail.

I just don't buy the premise of her being overwhelmed by having to swim across a river after falling overboard. It just doesn't seem believable.

She is terrible, and the worst part of Out of Sight (although it is probably the best acting she has done). I thought she was ok in Selena, but it turns out she was just playing Jennifer Lopez, so not much of a stretch.

And she ruined The Cell.

In this case it probably doesn't apply, but there is a lot more potential in re-making a bad/mediocre movie than remaking a good one.

It was a pretty funny movie.

Favorite line: "I like it when she goes buh-b-b-buh-buhhh-buh."

DrMcNinja: "Um, okay. How about this? Adam Sandler is like, in love with some girl, but then it turns out that the girl is actually a golden retriever, or something."

And the Golden Retriever is voiced by Cher. We'll call it "Do you retrieve in life after love?"

I was just thinking about this the other day for some strange reason. And I thought, "Kate Hudson needs to do it, or else it won't work."

So subby and I have the same opinion.

Whenever I think of J-Lo and acting, I remember a scene at the end of Money Train where she arrests the a-hole subway chief or whatever. She then looks over at the boys and gives these cheesey little head jerk thing with a grin. For some reason, that scene makes me want to punch her in the face repeatedly.

Then I see pictures/movies/videos showing her butt, and I forgive her.

I thought "Overboard" was a remake of the Cary Grant/Sophia Loren comedy "Houseboat".

Twentieth Century Vole: "Well now we're getting somewhere. No, wait. A new angle! In the snow, instead of the tree, I see Rock Hudson, and instead of the dog I see Doris Day and, gentlemen, Doris Day goes up to Rock Hudson and she kisses him. A love story. Intercourse Italian style! David Hemmings as a hippy Gestapo officer! Frontal nudity! A family picture! A comedy! And then Doris Day goes up to Rock Hudson, and she piddles on him!"

"Keep your mouth closed"

I liked the original

Also, Ray Combs was in the original as a cop. AWESOME

she better be, I love that part with Goldie Hawn in it

Jennifer Lopez is cock smashingly bad.

I tried forever to avoid her and then they put her in an episode of How I Met Your Mother. It made me throw myself off my roof.

I liked the movie too. That being said, quit making it sound like we are defacating on a great work of art here.

It's "Overboard" for god sakes.

Im more outraged that Lopez is still getting acting gigs.

The original is a guilty pleasure of mine. I don't give a shiat if they remake it, because, like every other remake, it has no affect on the original. People who spazz over the actions of Hollywood should go for a bike ride or something.

I never saw it so I don't care what they do to it. What I dislike is that it takes tens of millions of dollars from potentially more interesting projects (I'm not even talking about art films here - just better studio projects), it further inures the audience not to expect anything original, and - frankly - given the times and Ms. Lopez's attachment they'll water the concept down so much to avoid offending anyone it'll take all the potential fun out of it.

I like the sound of the concept of the original and put it in my netflix cue.

/Yes, I take these things way too seriously.
//No, I don't hate all remakes.

They not only stole my bike: they raped it, repainted it, put retread wheels on it and then tried to sell it to me as brand-new.

ftfa: While the nostalgic part of me wishes this will never get made, the rest of me wants them to go for it. Ignore the obvious stupidity and jump right in, Columbia! Let's throw a lot of money into this and have it flop... Flop bigger than J-Lo's Gigli. I want to see this flounder and fry like a freshman fishie. How about you?

well I don't much give a shiat, thanks for asking.

I have a theory. Kurt Russell has made the most consistently enjoyable movies ever. When I go through his catalog, every film is watchable. Most are enjoyable.
