It would probably have been actual irony if the minks started to eat other endangered species. This is just asshattery from the tree huggers. Still, as Drew wrote in his book, "Irony is anything you want it to be."

Although I suppose we do have fairly vocal activists. I suspect you hear about them more because it doesn't involve translating the signs, every demo is instantly media friendly and there's a good chance we'll kick of a riot for the fun of it.

This happens all over the place in the US. I saw one of the little buggers in my back yard a couple of years ago, probably from this (pops) release by the Animal Liberation Front. They'd better keep away from my chickens.

I'm sure that's what some bored pet owners in Florida thought when releasing their pythons.

Difference being that the pythons are not native to the Everglades, but minks probably live around there anyway. They'll do some damage, but the population will right itself after a while. And the more overpopulated they are, the faster they will die.

Activists causing more harm than good? Colour me ten shades of shocked....

Don't know. Maybe it would be irony if the minks were killing other animals in cruel and unusual ways, or killing other animals for sport. Or selling drugs, or building meth labs.
