People really need to stop confusing the weather with the climate.

But it's freaking 60 degrees in Minnesota!

Subby, that's not how it works. Unusually cold winter and early spring weather happens with or without global warming.

Unusually hot summer weather only happens because of global warming though, so be prepared for a bunch of headlines about that in another couple of months.

Yes. Because whatever climate region you live in has no effect on your weather.

Desert = rainy.

Arctic = hot.

Up = down.

It was 70F here today in the Northeast.

I have to say the weather in Chicago today was f'ing awesome. I took my dog for a long walk without a coat (on me, not the dog. I don't put clothes on my dog. I'm not that crazy). But yes, it is supposed to snow again in a few days.

2010-03-18 10:21:25 PM
I've seen it snow in July in Minnesota.

Yep, because a rain forest climate where it never rains is still a rain forest!

You really don't understand what climate and weather are, do you?

Subby: No. I live in Moline. I was being an ass.

When I first met my wife in Chicago, I bet that it wouldn't snow in April or I'd spring for dinner.

I lost that bet and have paid for far too many dinners in the past 35 years.

Snow on Easter morning isn't that unusual around these parts either, middle of the flyover states....

It snowed in Florida this year... twice.

In Minnesota it's not uncommon to see the ground covered in snow as late as May even. April snow is no big deal. Even in the south end of Minnesota (Minnesota, south of Minneapolis in Rochester area, etc.) snow is pretty common in late March/early April.

Wimpiest winter in Maine in many years.

I guess that proves global warming is real.

Because Maine is the only place so fark you.

When people say "it's snowing a lot more than normal! Global warming is a hoax!" they forget just how all that water got up in the atmosphere in the first place.

Question: What is the anti-science talking-point this week? Are they saying GW is not real or are they saying GW is real but it is not AGW?

They flip-flop so often I can't keep up.

I moved from VA to IL last fall, the cold/snow doesn't bother me nearly as much as the cloudiness does.

Global Warming broke my arm.

2010-03-18 10:44:12 PM
Ok, global warming results in more moisture in the air = more snow/rain (depending on temperature). More snow does not mean it's colder!

I wish we could get off this stupid snow = no global warming argument. It's a fact that global temperatures have warmed since the industrial revolution.

Whether that is caused by man or not is debatable (google global warming skeptic), but we ARE warming. Wouldn't it be more productive to discuss what we should do about this warming instead of going "lalalalalala there's no warming because I saw snow"?

Anyway, I apologize for trying to inject reason into this thread, I've been drinking and that makes you think can accomplish the impossible.
