I think this entire project is a bad idea and I hope it fails.

We already had Ghostbusters 3 and you can play it on Xbox or Playstation. Just don't expect much of a performance by Murray

No Ivan Reitman = No Ghostbusters 3

Please, no more.

I think the most recent Indiana Jones movie should be proof enough we need to let good 80s franchises rest in piece.

I wish people'd stop wanting to live the same moments over and over again.

This. GB2 was bad enough to kill the entire franchise forever.

FTFA:In fact, a source tells us that Reitman and all three original principals (Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and Harold Ramis ... sorry, Ernie Hudson!)

This franchise is for white people only. No Ernie, you cant have control. Not yours.

GB2 wasn't unwatchably bad, but it was NOWHERE near as good as the first.

Everything I've heard about this new movie makes my inner child hurt.

I'd like to see more sequels. Movies never have sequels anymore.

George Lucas isn't involved in Ghostbusters 3.
Indiana Jones 4 had another script written by Frank Darabont. Lucas decided to go with his own vision instead.

I think we should remake this entire thread in 3-D with a bigger budget.

Pretty much.

We had a good run, but let's not go on with it. If you want more stuff like that, petition someone to release Psi Factor on DVD and pretend Matt Frewer is a retarded Venkman.

Then you should watch Groundhog Day, then Groundhog Day 2.

Really. It's on the same DVD. Just push play when the first one is over.

Coeyagi's World of the Psychic:

Columbia will scrap GB III.
Columbia will reboot franchise with Apatovian helmer like Jonah Hill or Jorma Taccone.
The world will end in 2016, and I know this because an alien at the Paramus Holiday Inn told me so.

My prediction:

Sony will buyout Reitman's contract for an insane amount of money, and give him a percentage of the gross. He'll be laughing all the way to the bank.

Reitman should insist on his son being the director.

TFA asks us to feel sorry for Sony, so unfairly barred from having total control of Ghostbusters because they're required to... gasp... respect the wishes of THE ARTISTS WHO CREATED IT. Which by Hollywood logic, poor Sony shouldn't have to do, because those people aren't "hot" anymore. Oh boo-farking-hoo!

You know, I have met some dumb blondes (executives) in my life, but you take the taco, pal! Only a *Carpathian* (douche) would come (bring Ghostbusters) back to life now and choose New York (someone other than Ivan Reitman)! Tasty pick, bonehead! If you had brain one in that huge melon on top of your neck, you would be living the sweet life out in Southern California's beautiful San Fernando Valley (by letting him have creative freedom since it's his brainchild, you bastards)!

A third ghostbusters would only work if they got a whole new team of people instead of having the old guys. Maybe have Akroyd's character be a mentor/sage for them.

But I'd rather see Hollywood come up with new ideas instead of rehashing old stuff for cheap and easy profit.

I agree 100% with you, dont get me wrong I'm not a hater. Growing up with this francise and the cartoon was great. Yet,I don't want the studios to cash-in on another "nostalgia" driven product. That was the only reason way in the first place why they made G.I. Joe and the Transformer movies. 20-30 year olds reliving their youth at the same time, cashing in on unexpected youth and the hipster crowd. They should just let the project die. I will be shocked fullheartedly if this project gets off the ground and is any good.

The Ghostbusters video game was very good.

That doesn't mean that the movie will be, but the fact remains that there's a recent Ghostbusters project that involved all of the actors and didn't suck.

If only Ivan Reitman had... I don't know, a son that was a director or something. Especially if that son was coming off a Best Picture nomination.

FTFA: "In comedy, the element of surprise is everything. And I think once that element of surprise is gone, once people know there's going to be ghosts, there's going to be big ghosts, and they're expecting something big at the end, a lot of the tools that are at your disposal are gone."

I think if you name your movie "Ghostbusters", you might have given up some of your beloved tools even before the film makes it to the big screen.

As a die-hard, lifelong aficionado of sight-gags*, the heartiest laugh I took from "G2" was when the guys run under a theater marquee advertising "Cannibal Girls" (^) (or: the first film Ivan Reitman ever directed).

*It's why I consider "Airplane" and "Top Secret" the funniest American-made comedy films ever and "The Simpsons" (series 1-9 only) the funniest (and most re-watchable) American-made TV program ever.

For the greater part though, I do agree with Shiva that a cinematic "G3" just has the stink of "Doomed For Failure" preceding it by 50 paces.

Agreed. I loved it when I played it, but only played it once.

I wish people would stop posting that they would or would not want to re-live the same moment over and over again.

Ghost Busters was mildly amusing. It's not Caddyshack. Stop worshiping this God damn movie.

Thank god for that. ghostbusters has - likable characters that you care about, a coherent story, great special effects, and DID NOT DATE at all.

Caddyshack has random scenes that go nowhere, unlikeable asshole characters, and few laughs excepting Bill Murray's scenes. Caddyshack is, on the whole, a pile of dated shiat. I own the movie, I like it, I watch it from time to time, but it really is almost not fit to even share the same shelf space as Ghostbusters. Caddyshack is throwaway 70's comedy (even tho it came out in 1980, it IS a firm 70's movie). Ghostbusters is BRILLIANT film making.

Look at it this way - kids didn't want to be caddies when they grew up. They wanted to be farking GHOSTBUSTERS.

I didn't think Caddyshack was particularly funny even when I was a kid.

Liked the titties and the Baby Ruth scene.

The stuff with the gopher was embarrassing to me even as a ten-year-old though.

I still play the video game.

Then again, I got the version with multiplayer and I'm making a run on the leaderboards now that all you "too cool for school" times are bored.
