Well, the Bat-Signal don't just light itself.

Damn, despite myself I've got something in my eye....

Dead for Tax Reasons: he was too drunk?

That was my thought. It WAS, after all, St. Patty's Day...

He didn't need to attend some silly ritual to practice his faith?

Injured women are all well and good, but what about his eternal soul!!!!

How about the Archbishop shuts the fark up.

Piece of shiat (read: all) religious figures should shut the fark up.

Not news: Archbishop pokes fun at commissioner in jest.

Fark: WHARGARBLE RELIGION HATES INJURED PEOPLE

2010-03-18 12:11:55 PM
I am assuming the archbishop was kidding (they probably sent word ahead of him) but man, I totally get that. As a southern girl born and bred in a Baptist church, getting called out by my pastor would have been a living nightmare. Even if he was kidding.

Now I get lightly chided by my rabbi when I'm late for Torah study. Same thing. :)

Lesson learnt: if you hit someone with your bike, don't stick around to claim resposibility nor provide assistance. Reason: you might get a ticket for not having a light on your bike in broad daylight from a cop (who all are corrupt and worse than the criminals) because instead of fighting crime and ticketing for car alarms, they go after bike riders who are trying to reverse the global warmng.

He was putting priests in jail for child-rape?

2010-03-18 12:16:07 PM
So of all the people sitting around in a church, he was the one doing God's work that day. If that doesn't drive a point home, I don't know what will.

FTFA: "Today's grand marshal, Commissioner Ray Kelly, who was a little late getting here," Archbishop Timothy Dolan said as he introduced the dignitaries in attendance. "Commissioner, I heard you were stopped for speeding."

Hey Archbishop, I heard you were stopped for....... STFU and consider yourself lucky that anyone still pays attention to you now that we're past the age of being savages squatting in mud, you snake-oil selling jackass.

All religions are the same... so go Jewish?

I'm willing to bet it was a bike messenger/delivery person who hit the pedestrian.

They seem to have no regard for traffic laws. I've had to keep my eyes open for them even when crossing with the lights in midtown.

Hmm, this thread has potential. Will it be a religion hate thread or a bike hate thread.

Also, hero is a little strong for observing an unconscious woman until help arrived.

FTFA:
He had been delayed by the spirit of the good Samaritan, which is to say a true cop.
...
Everybody knows him as the police commissioner, but it is the recognition of his true cop's spirit that causes people to call out, be it at the West Indian Day Parade or the St. Patrick's Day Parade.
...
He marched on up the green line where he had knelt to assist her, proving himself still a cop and the grandest of marshals.

Really? I mean I get it Mr. author, you like fellating cops - but can't you at least form complete thoughts with your sentences?

I'm leaning towards bike hate. I'm a cyclist myself, but seriously, ask anyone who works in Manhattan and you'll hear more bad things than good about the bike messengers/food delivery types.

UNC_Samurai: He didn't need to attend some silly ritual to practice his faith?

Exactly. If you believe in God, does He not hear you in your living room just as good as if you were in the Front Pew at Church?

Seems that religions stress too much on pomp and ceramony, and not enough on God Himself

Yeah, after all, committing a hit-and-run in front of a cop is way better.

The detectives hopped out to help the commissioner rifle the victim's purse, it was after all NYPD

I suppose one could read this story and think, "Hey, what a bunch of nice guys".

But I also suppose it's more fun to go with "HATEHATEHATEHATEHATEDIEHATEDIEDIEDIE!!!"

The cars, they cause the global warmings! And when the globe gets warmer, animals make this face!

Why do people insist on using male pronouns for God? This would imply God has male bits and replicates via sexual reproduction. Which is all fine and good if you going to acknowledge there are also female Gods...

This gives a whole new meaning to "the big bang" theory.

But really, It should be used for God, no?

I don't hate Christians, just those who call themselves Christians but fark little boys and then lie about it while leading an international cover-up.

If Christians would just do what their namesake told them to do instead of cherry-picking to support their own vanities, then I wouldn't have a problem.

Accident was woman's fault. ALSO, TFA does not mention that the biciclist got two tickets, one of which was for not having a light on his bike. The other one was for not wearing reflective clothing (it was broad daylight). Cops suck. Gotta get their quota. The guy should have ditched.

The law in the city is that way for a reason.

-Whiny atheists rant from their basement about the ignorance of religious people, and how their (non) belief makes them more intelligent.

-Buzz Aldrin takes communion on the f'ing Moon

/note: Please do not take offense if you are a non whiny, non militant atheist. You're still cool

That I have a problem with as well. If one is going to quote their Bible, then quote all of it, good-for-bad, not just the verse you feel comfortable with.

To be fair, there's nothing in the article saying it was the bike's fault, or describing the events that led to the accident.
