I think that show is really stupid, and essentially a weak plot structure to deliver one liners.

I still laugh whenever it is on.

I'm pretty sure "Jersey Shore" causes more brain injuries than "Two and a Half Men".

I know I've lost plenty of brain cells after being forced to watch episodes of that crap.

No, Snookie's hair would be hard enough to probibly prevent a direct TBI, but coup-contracoup would be a possibility if she had a brain.

Which none of them do.

So you figure you lose more watching Sheen and the gang?

It's interesting to watch how Angus Jones (the kid) has developed as an actor. He was good as a kid, mediocre when approaching puberty, and now good again as a teenager. He's able to pull off the edgy wise-ass stuff a lot better now.

I don't know, I find it amusing watching Charlie Sheen more or less act as Charlie Sheen

I'm sure the show has been pretty good training in that regard.

I don't mind the weak plot structure either (his brother is a dentist and can't afford his own place?) but it's worth it for the funny one-liners, plus Angus Jones being a wise-ass is pretty good too.

(My favorite scene is when Charlie is in the recording studio and Eddie Van Halen comes out of the bathroom telling Charlie not to go in their for a while...)

It's better than Desperate Housewives. Watching that show is so painful when my sister and her fiancé watch it. They get so proud when they guess the twists that a box turtle could predict.

/And the narrator's voice annoys me deeply for some reason.

The only thing I really can't stand about the show is the laugh track. Try watching it while paying attention to the laugh track. As long as I can tune it out it's great and consistently funny.

2010-03-18 09:44:10 AM
i got to tell ya, that Visa commercial sheen and his dad did was pretty damn funny.

Laugh tracks are the bane of humanity.

Two and a Half Men is a pretty decent show. And yeah, Angus Jones is a great kid actor.

I'm sure any brain damage was at least partly due to the sudden lack of blood most guys' brains experienced whenever April Bowlby was on, particularly in a bikini. Geez, that woman was hot, although Marin Hinkle has it going on too.

Better more accurate-

No reflection on the actors reflection on the network the writers the advertisers

BTW- this is supposed to be a "racy" sitcom/drama or what ever so why is it that erectile dysfunction drug commercials are more explicit than the show they are attached to? Curious Guess it goes in the "Damned If I Know" column.

I watch more TVs shows than 90% of the population (not bragging) but I must say, that one is unwatchable.

I was just commenting to my wife that with FX, Sci-fi, USA and the premium channels adding quality dramas and comedies to the mix we are in the golden age of TV- in spite of the reality TV phenomenon. I bet could easily reel off 20 shows on TV that are very well made and worth watching week in and week out. Whats that? Then do it? Well, ok.....

FX
Sons of Anarchy
Justified

USA
In Plain Sight

TNT
Southland

NBC
Trauma
Mercy
Office

CBS
NCIS
NCIS LA
Good Wife
Numb3rs
Mentalist

ABC
Flashforward
Modern Family
Cougartown
Castle

Fox
24
American Dad
Family Guy
Fringe
Human Target

HBO
Entourage

Starz
Spartacus

Scifi
Caprica

Thats 24, and I didnt include any of the CSIs or other quality shows that I just dont watch because frankly, between the shows above, miniseries like Pacific, and whatever is on the History/Discovery/Nature channels, plus my 4 local pro sports teams, there just isnt enough time in the week to watch more. Although Boardwalk Empire will be added to the rotation as soon as it airs.

MMMMMMM, it is good to be a slave to TV.....

In other words, my premiums will go down because healthy young people who currently get by without insurance will be forced to buy policies they may not even want. (When I was young and healthy, I got by quite happily with a bare bones Blue Cross policy that only covered catastrophic expenses). It's a wealth transfer from the young and uninsured to the old and insured.

But, as an insured old fart, who am I to complain?

And the younger voters supported Obama, so you don't even have to feel guilty.

My gf hates hates HATES the show because she says all it does is put down women. But i've tried to explain to her time and time again that it only does this to show the pathetic paths of the main character and is soft brother. The female roles are some of the strongest i've seen on TV in awhile and Charlie's near marriages were to woman who smart, caring and attractive..

My wife just says "That's my Mother!" every time we watch the show.

My kids like the one where Charlie gets the Judge's kid to eat corn.

I like corn it, tastes real neat.
I don't like peas, they taste like feet.
Corn is the kind of the veggie food group...
'cause it looks the same when it's in your poop!

TFA is not new news in anyway... when you learn about TBI you learn all of those things. That is standard textbook knowledge.

I never really thought much about simple falls and brain injuries until a co-worker's husband slipped on the ice in their driveway and fell down. He didn't even notice or remember hitting his head on the pavement. A little over 24 hours later he was sitting in the living room and started spouting gibberish when trying to speak. Co-worker called 911, fearing hubby was having a stroke. CAT scan revealed a blood clot on the brain, probably the result of a closed head injury.

Luckily, he recovered after very delicate surgery. I've been extremely cautious on icy surfaces ever since.

Yeah.. it's pretty rare to have aphasia after a fall as an adult (older than a teen and younger than 65 especially). But, we did have a few aphasia patients over 65 in our study due to TBI from falling. Most of the younger people with TBI that I've met were from car accidents (or babies that had fallen).

I'd never watched 2 1/2 Men until my youngest brother told me that Charlie is one of his heroes. (After Dr. Cox from Scrubs, of course)

Funny show - even Lady Invictus likes it. My whole family is a bunch of cynical, funny, smartass misanthropes, so go figure. Don't get me started on my younger brother - he's a life support system for hate.
