If it were me, I'd give her a penny and then point out that while I did say I'd share my winnings with her, I never said how much of the winnings I'd share.

Actually, I agree with this guy. They have a child together and if they're friends, their child will benefit as well.

Hell, if I won the lottery, I'd throw some cash my ex's way because we are friends (though I have custody).

I'd grab a big wad of bills and throw them at her just to watch her crawl on the ground picking them up.

As far as I'm concerned, my ex-wife died years ago. They just haven't put that evil biatch in the ground yet.

A husband comes home to his wife and says "Honey! I won the lottery! Pack your bags!"

The wife says, "Oh what should I pack for, the beach or skiing or maybe a cruise?"

"I don't care" says the husband. "Just pack your shiat and get out!"

At current savings account rates, £2.3M isn't even enough to last a proper lifetime.

You need more bitter. And you should mention that she got fat.

I'd send a little my ex's way. Like maybe pre-pay the child support. But I'd mostly set up a trust fund for my daughter that my ex couldn't touch.

A man who had a little too much to drink is driving home from the city one night and, of course, his car is weaving violently all over the road.

A cop pulls him over. 'So,' says the cop to the driver, 'where have ya been?'

'Why, I've been to the pub of course,' slurs the drunk.

'Well,' says the cop, 'it looks like you've had quite a few to drink this evening.'

'I did all right,' the drunk says with a smile.

'Did you know,' says the cop, standing straight, and folding his arms across his chest, 'that a few intersections back, your wife fell out of your car?'

'Oh, thank heavens,' sighs the drunk. 'for a minute there, I thought I'd gone deaf.'

She'd likely get him in court and convince a judge she deserves a large cut.

By giving, he's trying to head it off and crush her argument.

The dad, who has a new partner, Josie Jones, 43, won half of Saturday's £4.6million jackpot and was entitled to keep the lot.

He has not ruled out tying the knot again with partner of 11 years Josie, a mother of four.

Wonder what Josie thinks of this.

You forgot to trash marriage as an institution and the evil, evil man-hating court system. This is infinitely less painful to you than just saying, "I chose....poorly." ;)

Here at work some people get together and play powerball. I never participate. However, my wife and I usually get 5 powerball quick pick numbers each week on our own.

We were discussing one afternoon what any of us would do if we actually won the jackpot. The guys all agreed that they would help out their relatives and probably give some money to close friends. The only girl who works in our department had a different plan. She said she would move away, not give any money to anyone else, and spend the rest of her life traveling, enjoying life, and making new friends.

She said she would need a "new class" of friends once she becomes a millionaire. Sorry honey, money can take you out of the ghetto, but it will never take the ghetto out of you.

If she ever wins, it would be like watching the titanic...from glory to the deepest depths.

You don't think you could live off 3.5 million US dollars for about 40 years?

I'm almost 38 and I'm pretty sure I haven't earned over 1 million US dollars yet. I think I could get by for the next 50 years on more then 3 times what I have earned so far in my life.

I'd buy my ex a lottery ticket and tell her she now has the same chance I had.

/Not bitter . . . well kinda.

If I won the lottery, the guy that I divorced 13 years ago would come around trying to get me to loan him some money--so he could put it in investments "for our son". Then he'd accuse me of some crime--stalking him or threatening to kill him--so that I'd have to spend a bunch of money on lawyers. Then he'd call our son five times a day, telling him not to be won over by mom's money and her ability to buy things now, because she'll try anything to keep him away from his loving father. Then he'd kill my dog, just for spite.

He really would too.

2010-03-18 11:04:17 AM
I think it's great they are still friends and not bitter about the breakup. I still think he's nuts to give her half the winnings...

I have a lot of great friends and family, if I ever won the lottery I wouldn't straight up give any of them half.

If he wanted it to benefit his daughter, he could (surprise surprise) have given the money to his daughter, or set up a trust fund or something.

He's hurting the Farkers who chose... poorly. His ex-wife who is apparently not a deceitful, evil whore is disproving their poorly-formed scientific theory (n=1) that all women are deceitful, evil whores, just because they think their ex is a deceitful, evil whore.

He's better off buying the EX off than fighting it in court. £2.3 is stupid money; its enough money to seriously get in trouble with but not enough to get you out of it. £1.5 is pretty hefty price tag for peace, but if he is giving the EX the money he figures she'll do right by the kid. Not what I'd do but its his money

Sure, you could, but depends what type of life you want to live. Shack in the boondocks? Sure. Posh flat in the city? Not so much. I'm young, so I'll use a 60 year figure. A good bank in the UK will give you a 3% interest rate, so you would be getting around £69000 a year in interest. If you want to empty out the account over 60 years, that's more like £82000 a year. If you want a nice place, do some traveling, live an enjoyable life, entertain friends, that money will be gone before you know it.

That's before you factor this in.

Let's just say that if I was going to ask for a ransom figure, the minimum would be around £5M.

/but as I said, I'ld take it.

Well to be fair, if they are using proof by induction and they assume for N (their ex) then they just need to prove it for N+1 (some other farker's ex) which is easy to do around here

/has no ex-wife so wouldn't really know

What kind of moron keeps millions of dollars in the bank for 60 years? Stocks, bonds, mutual funds...60 years is long enough to ride out bear markets.
And you can have a good place, travel, entertain friends, and live an enjoyable life on much less than that. Maybe not in London, but there are far better cities around than London.

That's impressive to hear, knowing that martial disagreements when a child is involved do not get out of hand completely. I commend the dude for sharing the jackpot - probably saved a bit on his daughter's shrink bills right there. Besides, it's just money, it feels better to share it than to scrooge McDuck it* anyway.
