I was trying to return an item at a Sam's a few years back and the price had changed since I had made the purchase so they needed a manager override. The very nice lady called for a manager more than once to no avail. The last ime she di i (after waiting for about 10 minutes) I took note of how to use the intercom. After 5 more minutes, I picked up the phone, hit intercom and paged Sam Walton to returns.

That got results.

I don't know if it meets the definition of any of the crimes, but certainly, calling out a particular demographic of your customer base like that is likely to cost them. Just imagine how their sales of cheese whiz and Wonder Bread would fall if they asked all Redneck Nascar-Loving Whitey Honkies to leave.

I worked at Hill's department store in high school.

There was this little small lady who worked in the clothing section. Just as quiet as could be. Her name was Melanie. I will always remember her.

One evening, a customer was in the clothing section and needed help with something that wasn't clothing related.

Melanie got on the intercom and said, "Will the hardlines manager please call clothing. A customer needs assistance."

Thankfully, the intercom was loud, so you could still hear her quiet voice throughout the store.

Nobody responded apparently, because she came back on and repeated the same message again.

About five minutes after that, she got on the intercom and said, "Fark this shiat, and fark all you motherfarkers in this place. I quit."

Then, she quietly walked right out of the store.

It was beautiful.

They don't possess the mathematical acumen to recognize that it's cheaper to buy something once for $100 than it is to buy it three times for $60.

Back in the day, my friend and I were in a Montgomery Ward's and watched a clerk punch in the intercom number..
Which we used for our own amusement later on.. we were 19, I'm sure whatever we said was not even close to funny.

I shop at Wal-Mart because it's convenient, it has everything I want in one store, and the prices are good. The Wal-Mart I go to is every bit as clean as a Target, or any grocery store, and I've never seen any customer who looked like a "People of Walmart" candidate.

Milk is $2 cheaper per gallon than anywhere else, and it's fresher. Cereal is cheaper. Name brand basics, like socks, underwear, cleaning products, etc are all way cheaper than Target, and there's a much larger selection.

Because I dont feel like driving 15 miles to go to another Walmart, or 20 miles farther to go to Target. I live in a rural area, and there isnt much choice when it comes to shopping out here. There used to be an Ames store in town, but it shut down two years before the Walmart was built.

If there were a Target that was just as close, I'd go there in a heartbeat.
