Oh f*ck you, Australia.

Aborigine's are pedophiles who practice voodoo and sacrifice children after they rape them.

There. Eat me.

Dear Australia,
Free speech is a good thing.

Encyclopedia Dramatica is believed to be one of the websites that will be banned in Australia under upcoming internet filtering legislation.

Wow, that's sad. The whole country will be blocked from sites that the government deems offensive? Australians want this to happen?

It's also really messed up that someone with a US based website may be charged with publishing something on it that violates Australian law just because someone in Australia can navigate to it on the web. Allowing such a case to go forward would be a horrible precedent.

I'm stunned that it's gone this far. If the man is charged, then can someone who publishes a book that Australia deems "offensive to our delicate sensibilities" be charged if someone in Australia buys it?

My Grandpa's favourite saying when you asked him where someone went?

"He went for a sh*t in the woods and the Aborigines got 'em."

The online community Anonymous . . . is strongly associated with Encyclopedia Dramatica.

Not sure they know what they're talking about. I'm pretty sure they mean /b/.

patrick767: Wow, that's sad. Australians want this to happen?

Have you not seen the crap they're banning? Like small boobs in porn (regardless of age) because it might turn normal guys into pedos.

What's even sadder is that there's a large group of people in the US that would like us to follow Australia's lead.

I think they mean ebaum's world.

So, let's recap:

At this point in time, ANYTHING you have on your website, if it's illegal ANYWHERE the website can be viewed, can catch you criminal charges?

Fark Australia right in it's Aborigin-ear.

I think it's a really great time for just about every website owner on Earth to 'shop up a picture of an underage Abbo humping Mohammad, who is in turn humping a dead dog outside a daycare, and make it their home page.

2010-03-16 02:25:52 PM
Encyclopedia Dramatica is pretty much a cesspool of snark aimed at anything and everything it bothers to cover - these guys were surprised?

I think this needs to be one of those "yeah, but consider the context" situations. It's not like Aborigines are the only people singled out for "hate speech" over there.

2010-03-16 02:29:57 PM
Encyclopedia Dramatica is offensive to everyone, that is the point of it.

Can someone email Australia and tell them they're doing it wrong?

They should have just gone to Encyclopedia Dramatica's "Offended" page to register their complaint.

/don't go to that page
//especially don't go to that page if you are at work
///or if you are running low on brain-bleach

What offends me most about the site is it's laden with malware and virus infected links. We used a VM and found link after link were infected like a 2 dollar whore in a Mexican whorehouse.

Oh dear. A man in a different country, running a site with content he did not write personally, covered in disclaimers because of that. fark you, Australia.

Wow, what a powerful stand for the right to free speech: writing juvenile attacks against entire sub-sects of society.
What a piece of shiat this guy is.

Maybe the aborigine should check out ED's page titled "Offended." NSFW or lunch or soul.

Unpopular speech is the most important kind of speech to protect. Also, I'm not sure he personally wrote the article in question...it's a wiki, it was probably written by members.

At least nobody on the site disparaged the boot. That's a bootable offense.

To be fair they are only banning small boobs. Big floppy boobs are OK. Seriously. Alright, I can see how some pedo might get off on an 18 year-old flat chested girl wearing a cheerleader outfit. Not that I support their ban though. What boggles my mind is the other thing they are banning in the name of pedophilia: female ejaculation. How could that possibly be related to kiddie porn?

I guess that's a didgeridont.

I'm finding it hard to agree with either side of this issue. On one hand, ED is nothing more than trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls eternally, and the other apparently takes notes on government from a certain Orwell book...

Can't we just nuke them both from orbit?

Yes, actually, it is. Exactly because so many people find it offensive is why it needs to be protected. Freedom is about the right of the individual to chose for themselves, not about the right of the masses to chose for them. If you don't like what is there, simply chose not to go to the site.
