Is she going to officially thank him for making her career (at least among non-sports people)?

I'd stalk it

It was a great point made on Meyers and Hartman (Fox Sports radio) yesterday where they pretty much said that for someone who cried out to be left alone, going on Oprah and then going on this show is doing exactly the opposite of what she claimed she wanted.

Her 911 paparazzi call was her stating how she's all over the news, and she sounded amazed that the operator had no clue who she was.

She wanted to get passed the nude hotel bit, but really, that's the only reason she's popular outside of ESPN, and the only reason she was brought on to that show. She wanted less coverage, and went out of her way to get more coverage.

sigh.
She is hot though!

Oops.. last bit..

Oprah's crowd is not even close to Erin's demographic, in fact, Oprah's audience was like "who are you"? So Erin also went out of her way to put herself on a whole new radar-a giant one at that, under the false pretense of "just wanting to be left alone".

classic AW.

I'd have to agree. I'm not buying her post-sentencing meltdown. She's probably just on her period.

Amen.

Oh, but how I would hit that shiat over and over and over.

It's so tragic how this incident will overshadow Erin's career as a ...um, what did she do again?

The bigger and more important question is real or fake?

I thought the Oprah interview was the only one she ever gave on TV. If so, that's not really that much attention-whoring.

Are you saying she only got her job with ESPN because of the nude filming? Not sure I understand what you're saying.

Andrews' lawyers confirmed today they have bought the copyright to the nude videos Barrett made over the course of several weeks filming her through hotel peepholes across the country, in hopes of lessening their availability on the Internet.

"Unfortunately, they will continue to be there forever, but hopefully in diminished numbers," attorney Marshall Grossman said.

I can understand buying the copyright, but the stated reason is freaking idiotic. Are they going to send DMCA takedowns to every site that hosted it? Genie, out of bottle.

He's saying that unless you watched ESPN regularly (or here on fark on the sports tab, it's how i knew who she was), then you probably didn't know of her. Thus, her "popularity" beyond the ESPN connection was virtually nil until the tapes were released.

What he said.
Also, if your only interview is with perhaps the largest audience in tv.. in a demographic that doesn't even know you exist..you have terrible decision making skills regarding staying somewhat anonymous, and left alone.

I'm sure she was qualified for her job at ESPN.. but there's NO reason outside of her nude tape that she was even on the radar for Dancing with the Stars. Also..
Housewives and whomever else that watches Dancing with the Stars do not know who Erin Andrews is at all.. unless it's from the tape. What's the networks selling point for her then?

Again..
AW'ing like a pro. I'd love to see her get trashed at an ESPN NFL event and be caught in the break room getting DP'ed on the air hockey table by Richard Seymour and Al Harris' braids.

Just how much was this copyright? I feel for the convicted man though. Club Fed for taking nude shots. He'll be crying in a beer, the day she does a nude scene in a movie. By then, gravity will have brought her jubblies closer to earth.

Ah, yep you're right.

I'm not as cynical as you all, I guess. How do you know most people watching Oprah didn't know who she was? Obviously the Oprah show wanted her on - I'm pretty sure you don't call them, they call you. They must have thought she was relevant enough. I'm sure she got a lot of money too.

If Erin Andrews didn't have a reputation for fawning all over athletes like a college sorority girl trying to get married before graduation, and if she hadn't used this situation to go on Oprah and DWTS, you'd have a point.

This isn;t so much "blame the victim" as it is "point out what appears to be hypocrisy."

How about the lady from Reno 911 or Chad Ochocinco? I'm sure the audience of Dancing with the Stars know those two very well, and that's just this season. Other sports personalities have been on there like Kenny Mayne and Michael Irvin have been on there without a lot of main stream exposure. ESPN personalities being on a Disney owned show should not be a surprise.

As for the whole Oprah interview, that's where she was going to get the most sympathy. I listen to the DP show, and there were enough members of the media throwing out the idea that Andrews released the tape herself that even Dan addressed it on the show. If I were female and being accused of publishing my own nude tape, I might run to Oprah for help as well.

Are the videos any good? I can't imagine you could see all that much through a peephole but apparently you can if she's that upset about it.

6/10. You can see her naughty bits but the quality is average.

Right. If she were petting the beaver that would be one thing, but it hardly sounds worth a GIS

Or even below average.

I mean, if you could possibly be spending years in the slammer for making these tapes, at least get better quality video.

If you need voyeur porn, I am quite certain there is higher quality stuff available. I mean, that sounds pretty vanilla compared to some of the rule 34 stuff I've seen.

Say what you want about the reverse peephole, at least she knew if someone was waiting in her hotel room to ambush her with a sack full of pennies.

""She doesn't deserve what happened to her, but part of the shtick, seems to me, is being a little bit out there in a way that then are you encouraging the complete nutcase to drill a hole in a room," USA Today sports columnist Christine Brennan said in July."

What does that even mean? Is that English? Did Brennan write that? What a terrible piece of communication talking.

Eh, can you really blame her? She's a young, attractive woman who spends all day around young, rich (well, maybe not yet, since she usually covers college sports) athletic guys. She's only human.

Her reputation (from other guys on the media, so take it for what it's worth) is that she uses it to get what she needs for her job. It would be like the office blond getting what she wants for showing cleavage and flirting with the boss.

I still dont understand that this dumb biatch wont accept herself for the way america sees her, a hot piece of ass and nothing more.

Nobody gives a shiat about your halftime interviews or cares about your opinions, just do your reporting in a bikini or at the least in form fitting spandex that shows your bush because thats all we care about.

Still doesn't bother me. It's just sports, after all. And I'm sure other sports reporters have their sneaky ways of getting stories.

I wonder if it will become routine to have to sweep hotel rooms for cameras to avoid this kind of thing.

Of course, this particular method could be stopped by having a little shutter on the inside part of the peephole.

I'd say I'm surprised by her attention whoring, but she's an aspiring TV personality. Don't think for a second she wouldn't use every asset she has into positioning herself into getting the attention she believes she deserves. If she never had to remove her clothes or put a dick in her mouth to get the opportunities she's had, I'd be surprised, so this whole "invasion of privacy" thing smacks of an opportunity to grab some press. But hey, why not give her free press for it? Not only did everyone see her naked for free, they saw her in the most unflatteringly naked way possible. Usually average girls who achieve a modicum of fame like her get paid hefty sums of money to do nudes (and sometimes not even full nudes) which are airbrushed and in the best possible angles.

2010-03-16 08:32:53 PM
She could have AW'd this a lot less than she did. She raised her profile capitalizing on it. I don't think she was behind it, but she used it to her advantage. Even after the story broke she still was unknown by most house wives until Oprah.

You can call what she's doing AW-ing or you can call it a woman who happens to have a convenient pulpit to speak out against such non-consensual privacy invasion, all while learning the salsa and fox trot with two left feet. Quite frankly I wish more celebs had the brass balls she does to prosecute instead of just sue in civil court when Consuela the maid pilfers out their amateur watersports porn and sells it to the highest bidder.

Now if only the sick farking perverts with videocams in peepholes and microcameras in their shoes would just go away I'd feel a hell of a lot better about airing out my hooha in my room at the airport HoJo.

The problem is its usually hard to prove a crime has been committed in theft of porno, and usually its the other party in the tape that leaks it to the public. This guy did something illegal and was easily proven sot here is a big difference, she can prosecute as much as she wants but she cant say she was appalled at the fact of her privacy was invaded if she keeps going on national TV shows talking about it.

If it bothered her that much she could have let it die, she has made the choice to pour salt in this "wound" so fark her and her dumb hot ass.
