I'd burgle Starbucks for 25 quid just on principle.

I'm drinking a 50 cent coffee from Starbucks because I bring my own cup so I'm getting a real kick...

I don't know, subby's humor seems pretty with-it and timely to me. Then again, I'm posting from 1995.

This kind of theft is surprisingly common. Every year my community service group had jars out at the local businesses to raise money for Christmas gifts for underprivileged kids. We had various heart-wrenching stats on the jars in order to encourage people to donate.

We had around 5 jar thefts a year, totaling about $150 in losses.

Those are jarring numbers.

I don't understand why they have a 'tip' jar at the register, to start with. To me that's like having a 'tip jar' at the counter of a gas station.

2010-03-16 02:18:11 PM
We had a kid do that about a year ago in St. Louis, ended up running over someone in the parking lot while trying to escape.

I was reading your post, feeling all agitated at people for being stupid, then read the 'fark Baltimore' part. While I'm in Baltimore co, I still get all pissed off that people can't take better care of the places they live. And people stealing donation jars just makes me feel all punchie!

Huh? Starbucks is expensive, but you do not get what you pay for. You get a cup of burnt ass. What you're really paying for is imaginary status of some kind, showing the world you're a trendy douchebag. But you don't get a good cup of coffee.

Or, you know, buy a bag at the grocery store and brew it yourself and save a few hundred bucks. Oh, but then you don't "look" cool.

Hates Starbucks. But that is prolly cause I am not cool enough or rich enough to go there...and that is fine with both of us.

MichianaJerk
Try your local gas station for a good cuppa joe.

Of course it varies, but the gas station by my house shouldn't even be allowed to call the sh*t they brew coffee. Weak, bitter and sh*tty...just like I like my women. Of course not really.

Love me some (good) coffee!

Am I the only one that thinks Starbucks House Blend is the nastiest tasting coffee ever to soil a coffee cup?

My company buys that crap for all the coffee machines in the building. I have to mask the nastiness with pounds of sugar and cream. I'm seriously think of putting my own coffee machine on my desk.

This weekend I stopped at a local deli while running errands. This is a very popular, if shabby, place right across from the elementary and high schools. Great Cuban folks, great coffee. So I fill up a large foam cup and head to the counter.

Julian says, "That's five dollars."

When did he turn the place into a Starbucks??

(it's really $1.50)

I'm tired of hearing people talk about how they only drink good coffee while holding their cup of drip brewed crap. If you want act like a connoisseur, at least brew it in a french press. Heck, most people I've known who talk about how 'Charbucks' suck or how Local Coffee Shop #8 is way better don't even drink coffee. Instead they drink some abomination of espresso combined with a dozen other flavors and sweeteners.

/Ok, I'm done

I wonder how much of it was the employees' own money - what they put in an empty jar to get the tips jump started - you know, like the $5 bills hangin' on the jar edge... (e.g. suggested tip amount - bills, not coins)...

10+ years ago, a decent cup of coffee was a buck, now everyone's raised their prices dramatically, while quality hasn't risen as much (depending on where you go)... your story is a prime example. we all pay like 3-5x more for our morning joe now, no matter where you go. thanks starbucks.

55 cent drip coffee at the Starbucks I go to if you bring your own cup (with a Starbucks logo). It's cheaper than making it.

I pay for my first cup of SBUX, and then bring the cup back 2 hours later and get the 2nd cup for free. (With a registered card)
2 cups for the price of one. Keep thinking that it's expensive fark tards. They will laugh you out of the store if you ask for a refill at DnD.
By the way, "Pike", which is the house blend at SBUX is awfull. Most of the bolds are good though.
All the fark tards that think that people go to SBUX to be cool, really? Who the fark cares about cool? I wasn't cool when I was young and you don't get any cooler at 44. If you dislike name brand anything, just because, you are trying too hard to be cool.
GTF over your insignificant asses.
