What if the windmill really is an evil giant? Can we afford to be wrong? We should be cautious and vigilant.

You have to get up to 88mph before hitting the electrified line morans

But what about the windmill? Is the windmill ok?

2010-03-16 10:54:35 AM
Not making electrical sense unless the loader bucket was on the ground or they were making contact with both the tractor and the ground.

Electricity isn't like land sharks or earthquakes that just come after you for no particular reason.

nytmare: But what about the windmill? Is the windmill ok?

The windmill was shocked at all the tension caused by the current environment. The situation remains charged, however everyone remains grounded and understands the positives and negatives of the situation.

I'm staying neutral until we hear more about this series of events. It has the potential to switch either way, but we need more nuts and volts of this story.

What a shocker this is! Hemlock Stones, that dynamo of detective energy, has switched a new light on current events, sparking the positive hope that he'll run the negative force to ground! Wow!

FATHER and son farmers have been killed in a freak Darwinian work accident in country Victoria.

FTFY.

/"Freak" accident is redundantly redundant.

Time to RTFA: "The injured pair, aged 65 and 35, were transported to Melbourne by air ambulance and remain in the Alfred Hospital in a serious condition with burns.

'I'm sure they'll be in hospital for quite some time yet,' Mr Hunter said."

So, both the Fark and Heraldsun headlines are premature, according to Mark Twain.

So, both the Fark and Heraldsun headlines are premature, according to Mark Twain.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said the Helyars died instantly.
(The Helyars were moving the windmill.)

The guys who tried to help are in the hospital so the headline isn't premature and Mark Twain had nothing to say about it.

And you KNOW Dulcinea was standing there going, "I told that
idiot to take off the armour and the wash basin before moving that
thing..."

Why don't you RTFA, moran?

A man who rushed to help suffered a shock and another who tried to drag him free was also shocked.
The injured pair, aged 65 and 35, were transported to Melbourne by air ambulance and remain in the Alfred Hospital in a serious condition with burns.

The father and son both died, the guys that tried to help them got the medevac flight.

Omnivorous: "Freak" accident is redundantly redundant.

Perhaps, but that's only because most people use "accident" to mean "incident". "Accident" implies there's no-one at fault.

/ Not obscure, surely.

Anyway, I also fail to see how moving a windmill near power lines, and then the windmill tipping over into the power lines qualifies as "freak."

"Freak" implies, to me, that it was something that could not have been anticipated.

For instance, a lightning bolt hitting the windmill on a clear day would be "freak".

LumberJack: Not making electrical sense unless the loader bucket was on the ground or they were making contact with both the tractor and the ground.

Possible that when the electric wire contacted the windmill, the guys stopped the tractor and jumped out to deal with it. A hand on the tractor, a leather-shod foot near the ground (if the voltage is high enough, proximity to ground is adequate [or is that amperage?]) and you become a crispy critter.

With high voltage AC you don't need to be grounded to get fried. Your body will act like a phase capacitor, charging and discharging at 60Hz.
