Parents need to stay married so they can grossly neglect their children together.

Well, with two separated parents, both thinking the other picked the kid up..it's ALMOST understandable.

Then I think for a few more moments and realize both parents just need a good caning.

The only thing that would have made this story better is if it had been at a Chuck E. Cheese.

I have a 2 year old, and I don't let him out of my site for more than a second when in public, and that is only if I know his mother is going to stand there right beside him. I feel sorry for the little guy, honestly I hope he is loved by someone.

Did I actually say site and not sight.

I suppose I could understand if they left him there and returned home... But to realize it a DAY-AND-A-HALF later?

How can they forget or assume that the other parent for two days has their son?

Because they hate each other and avoid contact as much as possible?

"In nearly 50 years as a cop, Dwyer says this is one of the most outrageous and disturbing things he has seen."

Hard to believe. I have cop friends who've only been on the force for a few years who can tell stories to curl your hair. If the kid had been killed, hollowed out, mummified, and used as a pinata by the Caesarland staff for their Christmas party, I could understand. But, this...

WienerButt: The only thing that would have made this story better is if it had been at a Chuck E. Cheese.

I do not know how anyone can stand to go to these kid party places. The last time I went to Chuck E Cheeses kids were vomiting the staff was apathetic and I got a serious case of the stomache flu from there. I will NEVER EVER GO THERE or host a party at those places.

How about the cop on the verge of retirement?

That's what I get for trying to do my own tags. Regnad Kcin quoted it. That's an old cop.

I'm really surprised at this story. It looks like such a high-class establishment, almost like it's connected to a country club.

Same apartment complex.

As for the question of, "HOW COULD THEY!?": I dunno, maybe because they're flawed, imperfect humans?

meh - maybe they won't notice he's not living with them ever again

It's not that outrageous. Sure, it looks bad, and sucks for that kid, but if the mom and dad are barely on speaking terms I can see how he'd have been abandoned and neither one would notice.

I was outraged until I read the article. This exact same thing happened to my brother, but he was 10 at the time and old enough to use a phone. If he was 3, I can see how this would go south quickly. Not acceptable, but understandable.

Took my kid to a Chuck E Cheese last week for his birthday. I was wondering why they had 3 kids sitting in this "Lost and Found" box.

No, of course not. It just seemed obvious to me. I'm surprised I'm the first one who posted it, actually.

Yeah because only a flawless, perfect human would be able to know where their 3 year old is.

I can kinda see it. They live in the same complex, not same apartment room. Yeah it was a major goof, but i can still see it. This is why you always take responsibility and ask the other person if they got the kid.

2010-03-16 09:38:10 AM
It's not unthinkable having the mutual "my ex picked him up" thoughts and the kid being stuck there.

Couple of thoughts though:

A place that handles kids birthday parties and they didn't phone the parents when he wasn't picked up?

There were no other parents at this party who gave a crap about the kid whose birthday they were celebrating?

Same apartment complex, not same apartment. I mean, it is far enough away that he can beat the shiat out of her if she tries dating, but can bed women all night long without her knowing.

Great way to fund Social Services. Have the parents play the game to get the kid back.

I was left behind once, so I'm getting a kick out of all these replies ...

(I was seven, with five brothers and sisters. It was my own house, and it was only for 15 minutes. Mom did a head count and Dad pulled a power-slide 180 with the station wagon to come back for me. I was in the bathroom when they left.)

/cool story, bro
