It might be nice to watch him in something that doesn't make me scream "WHY WONT YOU DIE ALREADY?" at the screen whenever he's on.

SQUEE!

EUREKA is the best SF show on television, mainly because they use actual
SCIENCE!

And, it has Deputy Jo:

I think they abandoned the idea of using science as a backdrop a few seasons ago the intelligent hyperspace ships with a clone pilot was when it jumped the "science" shark for me but it's still a really fun show.

See, that was at least a plausible extension of modern science, as
outlandish and improbable at it was.

The producers made a promise back in the early days of the show that there
would be no aliens and no magic. They skirted the issue with the whole
Artifact storyline from seasons 1 and 2, but considering the origin of the
artifact itself I'll forgive it.

I don't care if they do things that are outlandish; I just like it when SF
at least looks plausible on first glance.

Also... Deputy Jo.

I've always had a thing for a woman who could take me over her knee and
break me in half.

Screw off subby. Eureka is a hell of a lot better than incoherent drivel like "Lost" and other crap they put on TV.

Yea it aint perfect, but it's better than all the UFO hunter, Ghost hunter, lost contact lens hunter shows that are clogging things up.

Alacritous: It might be nice to watch him in something that doesn't make me scream "WHY WONT YOU DIE ALREADY?" at the screen whenever he's on.

You know, I have four more episodes to go in Battlestar Galactica until I finish the series, and I still don't quite know what to make of Baltar.

/planning to finish off the remaining episodes in the next few days

Fark off submitard. There are Thousands of things to watch on TV, and 99% are crap. Let us enjoy shows like Eureka that are still enjoyable/plausible/fun. Sorry, but lost and Heroes, not exactly enjoyable.

Don't forget flash forward. That show is farking terribad. Only shows I watch on TV now are Dr Who, Caprica, Mythbusters, and Eureka, with an occasional rerun of Blue Planet / Planet Earth.

Eureka is the best example of a show that... ummm... something illegal. Arrrgh, matey.

Farkdom should go easy on subby, who is clearly a Palin-American.

I think subby could be referring to fact that they only seem to come out with 6 episodes per year. I love the show but it seems like it's been on hiatus for forever now.

Yeah, why all the Subbie hate? The cool tag was used appropriately for two separate items.

Didn't Baltar just join the cast of that as well?

Haven't seen too much discussion of Caprica on Fark, but I think it's fantastic so far (and from hearing the premise heading in, I thought it'd be lame).

THat's the SyFy way. Take a year break between six episodes, release it as a DVD set and charge $49.95 for it and call it 1.0 or 1.5.

Many reasons why I ended up hating BSG near the end (aside from that ending. ugh) 1.5 years between seasons with a cliffhanger that leaves you feeling unresolved sucks ass.

rabble rabble. Warehouse 13 has been gone for how long now? comes back in July, a year after it ended almost.

Sorry, ftfy. I agree with that list, plus the addition of Dirty Jobs, Torchwood, NCIS (original, not the LA crap), Chuck, and Spartacus on Starz. I haven't been able to get into Caprica. I watched the first Four epi's, but I am not impressed so far.

Yeah Eureka is a fun show. One of a very few worth watching.

2010-03-16 10:22:02 AM
So many actors playing hot nerds on that show.

Sorry Ed Quinn left, but there's still Colin Ferguson and Joe Morton...and Neil Grayston if I'm feeling generous.

Believable science? No. But fun as hell to watch.

Bzzzzt. I'm going to have to call a penalty on subby here.

It's always Gaius "Frakkin'" Baltar.

believable science? No
Fun show? hells yes.
The genre-savvyness of the characters is part of the charm of the show (see Fargo and his rather liberal use of Frak).

More please :)

My Current show list:
Caprica (it's getting really good, especially with R&D back at the helm)
Castle (the non-genre (sorta) show of the list)
Eureka
Fringe
Lost
Smallville (now a radically different show then it was when it started, but still good, S9 > S8)
Stargate Universe (took awhile to find its legs, but it has potential)

I definitely dig Eureka.

I must admit I'm kinda surprised by the number of pro-Eureka, anti-Lost people here. I figured those crowds would have major overlap.

My preference:
1) Tess Fontana
2) Allison Blake (early seasons)
3) Jo Lupo

Just FYI, there's no shame in being third on a list of smokin' hot ladies.

2010-03-16 11:10:28 AM
Colin Ferguson is a good enough reason for me to watch.

2010-03-16 11:10:46 AM
Eureka: awesome. Are they really writing out Zoe completely? I thought it was still up in the air whether she was gone. Also, I'm glad they finally got rid of smarmy-guy, Allison's ex, he was a douche. In related news, the last 5 episodes of season 3 are still available on Hulu.

So, July 9 debut for 20 episodes? That seems like a reasonable summer run. Warehouse 13 ought to get the same sort of thing, right? Anybody know what the plans are with Sanctuary? Siffy's scheduling is so completely random I can never figure out when something is coming back. They completely curveballed me on the second season, so I missed about half of it. I'm waiting now for Hulu to go back to the beginning, or I'll just BT it.

I don't watch much TV, but I caught a marathon of Eureka six months or so back before the next season had started. I liked it. However, it's the sort of thing NBC (yeah, I know they are part of NBC Universal) would've put on in the early 90s and preempted with country performances.

Yeah, NBC, I'm still pissed about the way Mann & Machine (early 90's Yancy Butler...fapfapfap) and Eerie, Indiana were treated, especially Eerie.

Caprica has gotten much better the last two episodes. Much, Much better. They really needed the first few episodes to really setup the story and where its going, and now they're getting on with the overall story of the creation of the Cylons. However, its very different then BSG, and I almost feel that the anti technology anti robot preachyness in the last minutes of BSG are being somewhat carried over by RDM into this, but I digress. Go give it another shot.

Also, yeah, I forgot to mention I watch Dirty Jobs. Because if there is one thing that brings a smile to my face, its watching Mike Rowe make a complete fool of himself and still have an awesome time doing it.

And thanks Bulsd for fixing that for me, brain wasn't working that early.

2010-03-16 01:48:05 PM
How many think that Mike Rowe (Dirty Jobs) would be the perfect choice to add as Sheriff Carter's brother. The trick would be to find the appropriate job for him in town. Or just have him doing sometihg different every week, and screwing it up in some monumentally appropriate fashion.

2010-03-16 02:00:20 PM
Eureka has a few good actors that really seem to be into their roles and are kinda fun to watch. Main guy/sheriff, the Tony Stark clone that got killed off, and Deus Ex Machina Man (Henry, obviously). They're good enough to keep me watching, but only just.

The writing is utterly farking horrible. The women are pretty hot, in general, but not remarkably so. It has some chuckle-worthy moments, but for the most part it's a shiat show with bad acting and the same tired plot over and over. Yet I keep watching it for 2-3 characters. Strange. Maybe it's just because the other programming on scifi is even worse. Manshark! Dinoshark! Sharkbear! Sharktopus! Manbearshark! Sharkyshark! ugh.

The fact that it's off the air for 9-10 months between seasons doesn't help it either.

2010-03-16 02:06:12 PM
I do like Mike Rowe. I don't see him as a good fit for Eureka, though, as he's basically a clone of the sheriff.

As for Caprica.. I can't get into it. I fell asleep about 30 minutes into the pilot. Tried to finish it later, got about 10 minutes and fell asleep again. The wife got sick of waiting for me to watch and continued on, so I've seen bits and pieces of the next 2 episodes or so. Still looks marginally more interesting than a veggie blender infomercial.

2010-03-16 02:07:40 PM
