FTFA: An Ajax man allegedly got rolled by three angry Tim Hortons customers.

I've never questioned Canadians' love for Tim Hortons, but I am suddenly concerned about the quality of their reporting.

As an American, what is up with your love of Tim Horton's. Yeah, it's better than most fast food coffees but it doesn't seem all that special. Am I missing something? Do we get a different blend than the canucks?

/The people in this story need to be more patient.

That's the Tim Hortons just down the road from me, which is probably about 1/20,000 odds.

FTFA: When the 36-year-old man got out of his car - carrying his wife and two kids

So he got out of the car, picked up his wife & kids in his arms, and they all went to talk to the guys in the truck? No wonder he got beaten up--his hands were full!

/Glad the wife & kids didn't get hurt.
//Terrible reporting

This is at least the third Tim farking Horton's thread in a week. At first I said, "what the hell is Tim Horton's?" Now, I not want Tim Horton to DIAF, and Canada too.

Mods must have stock in it or something.

So, THAT's where the Incredible Hulk has been hiding out. Tim Hortons keeps the anger under control...

FTFA: ...the incident report didn't indicate how long the man had taken to order, what he was trying to purchase or whether he ever got his Tims.

You'd think they'd dig a little deeper. I mean, while he was getting the beatdown, did the wife finish the order and have a cup while the paramedics were pulling up? And did the kids get coffee too?

Inquiring minds do want to know. My god.

Not that hard to roll a regular Tim Horton's customer, just get them off their feet and push.

No, the beatdown victim should have figured out what he wanted before he queued up.

Timmy's is great when you're constipated. Other than that, the coffee is marginally better than Rottin' Ronny's.

Not to mention:

"He was taking a long time to get the order straightened out, then the horns started honking and the guys started yelling," Selby said. "It was a kicking, punching type fight."

Not only was there a fight, there was a kicking, punching type of fight. As opposed to the slapping, tickling type.

There's nothing especially Canadian about Tim's anymore, if there ever was. There have been Tim Horton's in the US for 25 years, and now they're all over the Northeastern US.

Heck, I just got a Roll up the Rim to Win cup the other day. In Manhattan.

2010-03-16 12:41:22 AM
As a dual citizen now living in Canada I try not to drink the coffee; I see people line up into the street and sit in their cars for twenty-odd minutes with an empty Esquires next door. Consequently, I am very leery about drinking it too often.

Something like that, with a bigger food menu, and a farked up way of ordering a coffee

I'm guessing it's a pun. It's the season of the 'Roll-up-the-rim" contest at Tim Horton's, and people are buying way more coffee than they normally would. A lot of the other chains are competing to steal their business too (free coffee at certain chains, 2 for 1 deals, etc.).

The 'double-double trouble' FTA was brutal, but along the same lines.

/Not a fan of Tim's coffee

2010-03-16 12:41:51 AM
Also, as a Canadian, I would like to add that Tim Horton's coffee sucks. The only people who drink it order "double doubles" (double cream, double sugar) because the only way to drink that crap is making it half milk and dumping tonnes of sugar in it.

2010-03-16 12:42:06 AM
You'll have to forgive the Sun for the "quality" of its reporting.

It's pretty much the worst newspaper in the country.

I remember that we weren't allowed to use it for schoolwork in grade 7 because it was "below our reading level".

Because spending twenty minutes waiting in a drive through makes so much more sense than spending five minutes fixing your own coffee at home.

Oh, we got the joke. It just wasn't funny . . . or well-written. It was, to paraphrase, "double-double unfunny."

/Hates people who take all day in the Timmy's drive-thru (as if you've never been to Timmy's before and have never ordered anything).

I have a Tim Horton's right across the street from me. I've lived in this apartment almost 2 years and I think I've been there twice, and only because they are open 24 hours. I do not understand the love for that place. It is bland overpriced crap.

I worked at a Timmy`s for about a year. I asked a coworker about what her crazy story was. She said that there are many over the midnight hours but one that stayed with her was a guy who drove up in the drivethru window buck nekkid. She is a pro...she only said, ``So, it`s COLD tonight?`` and gave him his order....

While I do enjoy Tim's coffee, the true believers who drink it daily and refuse to drink any other kind are an embarrassment.

This probably happened at least three times today at Dunkin' Donuts' near me, why is it news?

No, I don't know why the hell I'm bragging about that.

I went to a Tim Horton's once and it made Dunkin Donuts look pretty spectacular.

I'd thought to "roll" someone was to knock them out and then rob them, i.e. 'roll them over and look for loose change'.

Two things:

If you're going to have a complicated order, GET OUT OF THE DAMN CAR. How hard is it to go inside and order it just the way you want? It's the mildest winter the Greater Toronto Area's ever had-- get your fat ass out of your Grand Caravan and quit slowing everyone else down with your complicated order, fool!

Secondly, the funbags on Tuesday's Sunshine Girl could've prevented Nodar Kumaritashvili from being killed on the luge course.

To make it worse, some clown running the Timmy's in Chinatown hired Japanese staff. It's like they want to fark with the old Chinese ladies.

Well, I guess that redeems it a little. The closest I get to a Tim Hortons is watching Sharks away games, so I know nothing about their promotions.
