So is the family suing for billions and billions of dollars?

2010-03-15 04:47:48 PM
I would say the family will get the best part of the whole deal.... a pile 'o money and not have to see that dirtbag druggie again.

Geez, if he would've gotten away and ran into traffic, it would state that the cops didn't protect him from himself.

meth, its a hell of a drug. can turn some 160 pound wastoid into someone easily able to try ripping out your throat with his teeth, if he still has them.....

asminat: meth, its a hell of a drug.

It's got nothing on PCP, just watch cops.

You can spot the folks that are high on PCP a mile away. It's distinctly different than how the drunks or meth heads act. It's some seriously surreal shiat.

They're suing for the death, delay of medical services and detaining without probable cause.

Maybe it's me but I think if an officer observes anyone with a ridiculously high levels of meth (which would seem out of their gourd), he would detain him.

The man ran, thus giving cause for forced arrest.

This is one of those common sense things - you don't ever from the police. It implies fugitive cause.

If a judge rules in favor of the family, I would be surprised.

/ Unless if there's some details I'm not privy to.

That's really slang for 2-parsecs-equivalent; it's a statement of how efficient his hyperspace navigation is. You see, the midichlorians in his bloodstream let him...

No, it's because the drive system actually folds space so you only have to fly a short distance to reach your destination. Hans was bragging about how efficient his ship is at folding space ....

Shiat, you're right. Lucas is a dumbass.

Try thinking of it this way. You can get to the same place two different ways. For example we will use LA and San Diego. Now you could go straight down the I-5, or you could take the long way down the I-15. Now if the safe route is I-15 (without too many black holes or stars to contend with) and chose to take the more risky route down the I-5 (where it would be more likely to fly through say a planet) he sounds daring since he was able to shave distance off of his trip by taking the risky way.

/either that or blame the inconsistency on George Lucas

/insane nerd mode on

The Kessel run actually requires multiple jumps around a series of black holes. The Falcon being so fast was therefore able to make the run in fewer jumps. So really your analogy could work if the super market you were traveling too normally requires someone to drive on a road that has dozens of stop lights, each timed to that you hit all of them if you go the speed limit. The Falcon could go so fast, it would only be required to stop at 12 of them.

While the last sentence is probably more accurate, the 'official' explanation is that the 'Kessel Run' circles around a cluster of black holes.

Slower ships must take a more circuitous route, staying a certain minimum distance away from the black holes to avoid being sucked in. Since the Millennium Falcon is 'the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy,' it can take a shorter route that brings it closer to the black holes, not only crossing fewer parsecs of space, but moving through those parsecs at a higher speed than the average ship... in effect, 'slingshotting' around the black hole cluster.

But it's a pointless bragging statement anyway, because the officials at Kessel sold Han out to the Imperials, who intercepted him at the end of that run. Han dumped the spice and ran from the Imps, which is why Jabba put the bounty on him in the first place.

I'm guessing that "officers lacked probable cause when they first approached Lua" meant the cops happened to be walking down the street in his direction. So he freaked out and ran. Which, of course, is a dead giveaway.

The family shouldn't get a settlement - they should be relieved they're not paying for bail, or rehab.

Heh, when I was at the University, one of the professors I worked for did research on just this -- he'd get live pigs high on drugs and shock them with tasers to see if they'd die. How he got THAT one past animal safety, I'll never know. PETA actually showed up to protest him once, made somewhat less effective by the fact they were protesting a half mile away from the actual building we worked in.

All these years I just assumed it meant he went some dangerous way, as in through an asteroid field or something. Like if everyone has to walk twenty miles to the town five miles away because they don't walk over the mountain.

I feel the cops pain. I am a physician and some farkin' tweeker is suing me for not giving him Ritalin. ITS GOING TO FEDERAL COURT for chrissakes!

Let's make it worse: He was caught faking symptoms. Even more worser: WE HAVE HIM FAKING ON VIDEO! But you think his farkin' attorney gives a hairless rat's ass when he can sue? A55holes. Already been two years of my life and my attorneys say plan on three more.

People don't get it. Criminals aren't like us. If they were they wouldn't be drug addled, manipulative, angry, farked up losers. I tried to do the right thing and provide medical care to them. Now....Fark 'em. Trust me... give the average criminal an inch and he'll sharpen it, stab you in the face, rape your wife and steal all of your shiat then laugh about it. Until it's court time, then it's, "Oh I'm sorry, I have a chemical dependence issue, send me to rehab... waaahhhh"

/Just quit practicing medicine entirely two weeks ago. Still decompressing but totally happy. NEVER AGAIN. From idealistic to terminally cynical in 5 years.

Police killed a friend of mine with a taser just a few months ago- he died of head injuries. No trace of drugs or alcohol in his system. He was stopped by police because he had apparently said something profane/indecent to a clerk at a quickie mart he'd stopped at for gas.

Sometimes it's easy to forget that in America, a few misplaced words can get you killed in short order.
