They're clearly just making this shiat up now. On their most recent podcast, they said "I don't know why anyone would think Annie is important, she's not at all" although on their Season 3 DVD commentaries they said "Annie is very important, and we'll see her again."

Interviews like this and others that point out that the cast has no idea what's going on in the show, even with only a few last episodes to film, make me raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaage.

It's like they haven't written hundreds of episodes in advance, and actually write them only a few weeks before they film them!

Madness!

That's not what I was saying. I said they're making it all up as they go along. Lindelof and Cuse have always stated that since about mid season 1 they have had the shows mythology and main plot points mapped out. They said they don't have everything planned, but that they have the main shiat planned. Now, I'm starting to really doubt they even had that mapped out.

well if that makes you rage than I hope you use caution in real world situations. they've gone on record (although I guess you missed it, being outside of your agenda) saying many times they make the majority of it up as they go along. they've also gone on record to say what most people are well aware of, that's its television, which has to evolve beyond all the variables within the production that stay, go, or get weird.

and why does the cast need to know what's going on? despite anyone's enjoyment or attachment to the show, they're actors...that's all. god damn people take this show way too seriously. and this is coming from someone who's watched the entire series a few times over, and loves the show very much.

I know what they said.

Architecture Of Aggression: and why does the cast need to know what's going on?

When the fark did I say they NEEDED to know what was going on? I said that the fact that the actors, who play the characters, don't even know what is going on and there's only a few episodes left to film, makes me pissed off. I don't want to not know what the fark is going on all the way through the "season of answers" i was promised.

Considering that her character disappeared at the end of season 4 only to reappear towards the beginning of season 6 as essentially a completely different character, her confusion is quite justified.

I bailed on this thing shortly after season 2 started to get goofy so I'm not confused by any of this.

You missed out on a lot of good episodes, although if you're ever planning of getting caught up then I have a few suggestions. 1.)Season 3 is really bad at some parts but the last few episodes are amazing. 2.)Don't start getting caught up until this last season is over, so you don't have to sit through a bunch of non answer nonsense.

Every writer says that. George Lucas said that too, though I don't like referring to him as a writer.

I guess I'm probably more disappointed in myself for having believed them, then. When they say things like:

We have 34 hours left for you guys to see - seasons five and six," Lindelof told the Comic-Con crowd. "We owe answers. We know the answers that we owe. The questions have to begin to diminish."

I believed them. I'm a fool.

Did you even read what you're complaining about? "They won't explain a minor character from 3 years ago! WWAAAAAA." Dude, its a mystery show. You do realize they have to lie to the audience to keep it going, right? If you had stopped Cuse or Lindeloff in season 2 and said, "Is there going to be time travel?" they'd say no, because saying yes ruins the surprise. I know this is shocking, but they don't have to tell you the truth.

bglove25: Did you even read what you're complaining about?

No it didn't.

It's pretty much outed itself as either a troll or a moran in previous Lost threads. It latches on to offhand comments made 5 years ago and taking that as gospel. It also refuses to accept that any characters can change throughout the show and insists that any character development "goes completely against that character".

Just ignore it.

Everyone's ganging up on Epiphany, so I'll do the brave thing and side with him.

I am going to watch Lost through to the end, and I will appreciate whatever character development they give us, but make no mistake: the writers owe us explanations on at least a few minimum items-

-What is the smoke monster's name?
-How did he and Jacob get to the island?
-What were their goals?
-What are the rules that govern their powers (i.e. why can't they hurt each other? How do they shape shift? How can they manipulate people off of the island)?
-Who are the people at the temple, and why are they waiting there?
-Who are Adam and Eve (only because they made a point of reminding us a couple of weeks ago)?

If we don't get these minimum answers, then Cuse and Lindeloff (or whatever their names are) had better milk this show for all they can get out of it and put that money in the bank, because no one will ever watch anything they make again.

I'll add my own pet mystery: What is the deal with Christian? What is his connection with the island? We've seen him many times in flashback, never in relation to the island. Suddenly he's Mr. Exposition (well, what passes for exposition on Lost, anyway). Is it Smokey in disguise? If so, why take the form of Christian when interacting with non-Jack characters?

Smokey can't be Christian (or if he is it's an example of the writers cheating). Why? Couple of reasons. Jack sees him in his office. Smokey can't leave the island. Also, Smokey has no reason to take the shape of Christian with Locke, or to say, "say hello to my son" unless it really is the ghost (or whatever) of Christian.

bglove25: "They won't explain a minor character from 3 years ago! WWAAAAAA." Dude, its a mystery show. You do realize they have to lie to the audience to keep it going, right?

It's interesting that you say it's a mystery show. As the show ramps toward its wrapup most of the Losties have been stating emphatically that it's not a mystery show, it never was a mystery show, it's about the characters.

The fact that D&L have been quoted about something being important, then quoted as it being unimportant (no time to cover it) means you really can't trust anything they say. Someone pointing this out is not unreasonable.

I am on the fence about Ep. being a troll, because he does have some valid points. You add the off-the-wall stuff and it becomes more questionable.

//can't imagine them wrapping it up satisfactorily. Hope they do.

mjbok: Also, Smokey has no reason to take the shape of Christian with Locke, or to say, "say hello to my son" unless it really is the ghost (or whatever) of Christian.

True enough. But Christian was in the cabin ("someone else has been using it"), he led Claire off into the jungle, and now Claire is definitely with Smokey. "Say hello to my son" may have been a means of giving Locke a tool to convince Jack to come back to the island.

So far, there's no indication that Jacob shape-shifts. He can grant immortality (well, at least longevity) and leave the island, where Smokey is quite clearly a prisoner. As for Smokey's other powers, he does seem to have some kind of special perception (he knew Ben killed Locke, which happened in private off the island) -- maybe he has the same ability Miles does?

MonkeyAngst: "Say hello to my son" may have been a means of giving Locke a tool to convince Jack to come back to the island.

I thought of that, but it doesn't explain "Christian's" presence in Jack's office after he returned to the mainland.

Plus the loss of his body in the alt. timeline HAS TO mean that there is a larger importance to Christian.

Yeah. And that was before Jack got hooked on pills. No clue what's going on there. Have dead people appeared to anyone else off-island besides Hurley?

-What is the smoke monster's name?

The Master

-How did he and Jacob get to the island?

Crashed the TARDIS

-What were their goals?

Jacob/Doctor - To make the Island/camoed TARDIS as good a place as possible and keep it secret

-What are the rules that govern their powers (i.e. why can't they hurt each other? How do they shape shift? How can they manipulate people off of the island)?

Only a time lord knows for sure

-Who are the people at the temple, and why are they waiting there?

The children of time/ everyone that Jack Harkness fathered in his few routs with women

-Who are Adam and Eve

(serious answer) Rose and Bernard, since they went back to the 70's and all.
