Ah, listen to the haters! boo!

Pacquiao is a fanstatic fighter. As far as politics, last time he ran for office, no one voted for him because they want him to continue fighting.

and good questions, JHVH-- does he have any hot sisters?

I'm not a big boxing fan, but I caught part of a Pacquiao fight on TV... almost late to work that day as I had to watch til the end. He is an amazing fighter... especially for his size/stature.

But yeah, his singing sucks.

JerseyTim: It's hard to lose a fight when the other guy doesn't punch.

The most entertaining part of the match was Jim Lampley's brilliant commentating when he said, "Bam Bam Bam" whenever Pac threw punches. The ridiculousness of it made me laugh like crazy.

But for the most part yeah, pretty boring. Even though Clottey got some nice clean hits, it wasn't enough against someone throwing over 1200 punches in 36 minutes.

Will we see? If Manny was so tough why would something like a blood test scare him? The answer is obvious: he blood dopes. For immediate performance enhancement there is nothing better (other than meth).

THIS.

Dude moves through seven weight divisions - going from 110 lbs. to 145 lbs. - on his own and stays just as fast? Unlikely. Muhammad Ali was a vastly different fighter at 190 than he was at 230 and that was lot lower a percentage of weight gain than Paq. Plus what's this BS about a 30 day testing window because taking blood might weaken him? Do they take more than a pint to do a doping test? Your body replenishes a pint in what, 24 hours? What do they do for Olympians? They don't seem to be "weak" as a result of it...

And of course he say he'll undergo a test after the fight - either his body will have processed whatever he's on by that time or he can claim that whatever they find was a natural by-product of him fighting. Certainly enough to cloud the issue.

Not buying it.

But can he do this?

2010-03-14 03:06:22 PM
Said Mayweather:

In a fight of this magnitude, I think it is our responsibility to subject ourselves to sportsmanship at the highest level. I have already agreed to the testing and it is a shame that he is not willing to do the same. It leaves me with great doubt as to the level of fairness I would be facing in the ring that night.

If Mayweather wants to submit to an extra test for no reason whatsoever, more power to him. But to point to Pacquiao playing by the rules and using that to imply he's cheating? That's just...well, it's boxing, and that's just good old fashioned psychological warfare. - http://deadspin.com/5432509/mayweather-laughably-implies-pacquiao-is-doping

I just don't like to argue enough to argue about something that can and will be settled in the ring. If you do, you'll have to find somebody else to argue with.

if he took that blood test that mayweather demanded, even though the boxing commision didn't require it, what's next? what if mayweather wanted pacman to jump through a flaming hoop when he enters the ring? it's about principle. what if everyone in the nba wanted kobe or lebron to take more tests to try to explain why they're so amazing? the minute he does agree to whatever mayweather demands, he's lost an important edge already.

You said "we'll see". I suspect that Mayweather has people who know that Manny blood dopes (kinda obvious that's why he demands this test). I think that he (Mayweather) could have stooped to that level, but maybe it's just that: he thinks that it isn't necessary to belittle his own abilities by relying on any performance enhancements. I doubt we'll see anything, other than Pacquiao avoid this fight as much as he can (because he fears getting his brains bashed the fnck in).

TheValiant: the minute he does agree to whatever mayweather demands, he's lost an important edge already.

In refusing those conditions he has lost any edge he ever had.

Because of the machismo posturing surrounding the fight. It was a total dumb pride thing. I mean, Olympic style testing's never been required by Vegas, and it's not even like Pac couldn't get clean if he was doping--hell, Mayweather's fighting Mosley with Olympic testing, an admitted doper, next month (too lazy to look up when the actual fight is). And stopping your doping doesn't immediately remove all the effects of doping.

Besides, if you believe De La Hoya and other fighter who've been in with Pacquiao, his strength isn't a major feature. He's a great offensive fighter who finds new ways to get inside and adapt his punches to his opponent's defense. He wears guys down. Watch the Cotto fight again. He's got a ton of great punches, but not because of his strength; he's fast and damn smart (or at least Freddie Roach is).

It's ridiculous to say that lack of evidence is proof of something. Ask Glenn Beck. Pacquiao has never tested positive for anything, and boxing has a lot of angry men getting angry over little stuff. Plus, they're machines that train constantly, and I have no doubt that a boxer would think that blood tests would make him weaker. I don't think it's true, but I'm with Pac's camp.

Really, you could make a good case for either fighter having higher moral ground. They'll compromise on the testing after Mayweather destroys Mosley, and we'll get the fight sometime in the fall--they pretty much can't avoid it anymore, there's no one left to fight.

/I don't even care who wins it, that fight's gotta happen
//I'll be pulling slightly for Pacman, though, just because he'll be a slight underdog and Mayweather's a prick

maybe to the average fan's eyes, but all the people i talk to who really know their boxing applaud pacquiao for taking a stand. as that deadspin article said, pacquiao is playing by the rules; mayweather is trying to make himself rise above the sport and it's governing bodies. boxing has it's own rules and that's it. they blood test immediately after fights, and no one's accused pacquiao of it until mayweather realized someone who could actually beat him wanted to fight and he opened his mouth.

what makes more sense: a fighter who's hungry for it and wants to win? or someone who's been utilizing blood doping or what have you to win 7 belts?

pacquiao has the greatest edge of all. he's right.

What the hell are you talking about? Pacquiao's fought a string of way better opponents than Mayweather, including most of the serious Mayweather challengers.

TheValiant: if he took that blood test that mayweather demanded, even though the boxing commision didn't require it, what's next? what if mayweather wanted pacman to jump through a flaming hoop when he enters the ring? it's about principle.

It's psychological warfare. Mayweather wants the bouts on his terms, in his backyard, under his care and control. He does this kind of dick move all the time. Pacquiao is wise for backing out of it, but at the same time I can't ignore that he's gone up so many weight classes, and is handing top contenders their asses with ease. That's...odd. That usually doesn't happen.

Pacquio is known for his speed, but more than that his legendary stamina. He doesn't get tired. He fights the same way in the last round that he does in the first round, and he looks fresh throughout the fight. He's always been like this, even at 110 lbs, so I don't think doping has really improved this aspect of his style.

I won't cast judgment, nor will I taint Pacquio's success with doping allegations, but.....oh ffs, just get in the damn ring and fight already, you two.

This.

Mayweather wants to protect his legacy, especially at this point in his career, so its cheesepuffs for now on. He even remarked once that he didn't see any point to fighting Pacquio because Pacquio's already been knocked out before (albeit 10 years ago), so beating him would just make him another fighter who's beaten Pacman. Cuz that's what it's about with Mayweather.

It's pretty damn funny that you speak so confidently on something you don't really know anything about. Pacman said he would take tests up to 14 days before the fight, and immediately after. You think he's just doing that in 14 days and that's it, and that's why he's good? Jesus, you're dumb.

i'm no expert on blood doping but what i'm seeing you say is this: blood doping can be cycled so that it can be undetectable, therefore he does it. scheduled drug tests are easy to pass, therefore he is on drugs.

i don't like this logic.

if they can't detect it immediately after the fight, then what the hell is he on? i mean, other than the aforementioned berserker mushroom.
