I saw an episode of one of those Humane Society animal cop shows. They seized an injured, starving horse from an old man who had rubbed motor oil in it's wounds. It's a messed up version of an old folk remedy that used pine resin on wounds.

I'm always amazed at the weird shiat people believe and the things they don't know. Last week I found out someone I knew had no idea what a walnut looks like as a whole nut. They'd only seen shelled walnuts in a plastic bag.
