When is this contest over? So we don't have to hear about it every day?
2003-04-25 01:41:13 PM
a sham? in Kentucky? no!
2003-04-25 01:41:35 PM
Let me first say that we MUST send letters to the website. This is complete BS.
2003-04-25 01:41:38 PM
Thanks guys! I can't believe that Jaclyn is currently winning! We cannot let Fark fail.
2003-04-25 01:41:53 PM
Your vote will be recorded but not reflected immediately

This would seem to explain it...
2003-04-25 01:42:15 PM
I think it is over today. Don't know what time though... ;)
2003-04-25 01:42:30 PM
look at what it says at the top "Your vote will be recorded but not reflected immediately

not that i doubt it's a sham. i mean, how can that lady lose with fark behind her, seriously? i bet they're not counting votes that come through fark or something...
2003-04-25 01:42:35 PM
I don't care.
2003-04-25 01:42:35 PM
Oh pooey!
2003-04-25 01:42:37 PM
If you have any question about who to vote for... read the bios.
2003-04-25 01:42:49 PM
Jaclyn, I'll find you! If it's the last thing I do!
2003-04-25 01:43:08 PM
I'm not going to send any letters until the contest is over. It's the outcome I'm worried about, not the kick-ass vote difference.
2003-04-25 01:43:11 PM

maybe it means "not reflected till we're sure you're not from Fark"
2003-04-25 01:43:26 PM
Bertha better show up in a boobies link for all the favors we've done her.
2003-04-25 01:43:39 PM
yo, that other chick's got one fugly hat...
2003-04-25 01:43:48 PM
this is an outrage. i, for one, will now boycott the state of Kentucky.
2003-04-25 01:43:51 PM
What is the point of this? In a week, she won't even remember the contest.
2003-04-25 01:44:04 PM
Well if you vote more than once they will cancel the vote, as well as cancelling votes coming from a deep-link
2003-04-25 01:44:09 PM
This is serious bullshiat. We've had this on fark a few times, totalfark a lot, wil linked it, i had a few other forums vote for her.. unless /. is secretly skewing the votes, this is simply un-possible.
2003-04-25 01:44:14 PM
holy fark!

50.28% Jaclyn Risden-Smith - 1357
49.72% Bertha Clemmons - 1342
2699 votes cast.

This is such farking bullshiat...
2003-04-25 01:44:14 PM
well i am surprised the 24 yr old came up with so many votes.
2003-04-25 01:44:17 PM
I would guess that there are more than 1300 farkers who voted for this thing. It sure seems like something stinks at the glue factory.
2003-04-25 01:44:47 PM
The vote should have been swung in Bertha's favor a long time ago. This is such a crock.

/pissed off
2003-04-25 01:45:08 PM
Drew, being a bigtime webman in Kentucky, can you not network a solution to this? For example, gather donations from fellow chamber of commerce folks to buy this poor lady a ticket?

I really cannot believe she is behind. By a nose.
Now that we're in the home stretch, we need to pour it on.
2003-04-25 01:45:17 PM
what the FARK is up with this paper? And what kind of lunatic wears a hat like that Jaquelyn person? Bertha rules.
2003-04-25 01:46:03 PM
"yo, that other chick's got one fugly hat..."

not just the hat
2003-04-25 01:46:29 PM
Since Bertha is older than DNA, she deserves to go
2003-04-25 01:46:32 PM
I want to know where the heck the college girl got so many votes? Didn't Bertha get the most votes in the preliminary round(s)?
So how can she be LOSING, with Farkers behind her, AND what appears to be a solid fan base outside of Fark?
2003-04-25 01:46:44 PM
Why would it matter where the vote comes from, anyway? A vote is a vote. Ballot stuffing is another matter, but we're not doing that.
2003-04-25 01:46:53 PM
Yep, my vote wasn't counted. Nice job, losers.
2003-04-25 01:46:57 PM
Your vote will be recorded but not reflected immediately

ATTENTION FARKERS: they don't say when the update takes place. Could be it takes several hours.

2003-04-25 01:47:25 PM
Do they not learn? Never cheat the power of Fark.

Unless you can. :(

2003-04-25 01:48:13 PM
Uh Oh.

Just wait until M0ppy sees this.

I think a roadtrip to Bertha's house is in his immediate future.
2003-04-25 01:48:16 PM
Yanno, the /. idea is kinda plausible, but would they have been able to keep it a secret from Farkers?
Maybe SomethingAwful is skewing it.

WebWars II- Disturbing the Derby
2003-04-25 01:48:23 PM
Thet is the fuuuh-glyiest 24yr old. EVER.

2003-04-25 01:48:51 PM
They BOTH only increased in 2 votes the last time I checked.

I smell BS on my upper lip.
2003-04-25 01:49:14 PM
Maybe if somebody could figure out what the email address is of the managing editor at the Herald or somebody like that, and everybody send an email to that person saying "I voted for Bertha", then we can show just how many multiples of thousands of votes Bertha really got?
2003-04-25 01:49:17 PM
Morgan Webb blowing the doors off of that 'model chick' on K-Rock's 'either or' contest should be proof enuff of the Fark Effect.
2003-04-25 01:49:25 PM
There is no way on this planet that anyone can beat out a Fark vote on the internet.

This is crap. There is no phuking way Jaclyn caught up like that. No way.
2003-04-25 01:49:42 PM
This is total Crap!!!

2003-04-25 01:49:42 PM
Guys, guys, guys. Badmouthing the other girl is producing some serious negatived karma. Our job isn't to to piss off the competition with obvious and childish insults.
We do that with voting.
2003-04-25 01:49:49 PM
[image from too old to be available]

Relax, this is no sham here, the contest is perfectly honest, the outcome has never been in doubt. I'm sure in the end we will recieve %99.9 of the vote!
2003-04-25 01:49:57 PM
Admins: We've had problems with direct-linked votes not being counted if Fark is the referrer. Could one of you change the link for this story to, which has instructions on how to make sure your vote is counted properly? It might yet make a difference.

2003-04-25 01:50:25 PM
Maybe /. is supporting Jaclyn?
2003-04-25 01:50:26 PM
negatived = negative
2003-04-25 01:50:27 PM
If Bertha Clemmons does not win, with the Power of Fark (tm) behind her, then the contest is a complete hoax and action should be taken.

2003-04-25 01:51:20 PM
HdHale - That could be, but it has ben a couple DAYS since the initial flood of FARK votes should have shown up, and we have yet to see them. I really don't think thats the problem...
2003-04-25 01:51:35 PM
is it me, or is it stuck at 2705 votes?
2003-04-25 01:51:53 PM
the votes aren't updating as regularly as they were before this link was up. methinks a bunch of votes will show up in a bit.
