Cool places, and great photographs, though I'd have probably traded the Bermuda Triangle (yeesh) for something like the Tsingi Massif ^ in Madagascar.

Most of these I've seen before on similar lists. Some are not the usual choices. I don't remember Mount Roraima or Fly Geyser.

Definitely! The "Bermuda triangle" is an empty patch of water with no more losses of ships and aircraft than should be expected. The only "mystery" is why so many people think there is anything mysterious about it.

Oh you could definitely go see it. It's not easy to get to, but it's not impossible. I've been hoping to visit there for the past year actually, but I probably won't get a chance for a while.

I was just trying to make a snarky joke about driving to an island. :-)

Ooh. Those Socotra trees are just neato. As is the crystal cave.

Speaking of caves though, there's some pretty neat scenery (well, photos at least, I've never been) of Lechuguilla Cave (link pops to Wikipedia, better links are at the bottom of that). It's got utterly clear pools way down in there.

Would you want thousands of people a year just wandering your property and making a huge mess of it? Or having one of those thousands of people hurt themselves and then sue the land owner. You know it would happen.

The natural fission reactor site in Oklo, Gabon would surely be a contender - there are no great pictures and the process took place 2 billion years ago, but it is pretty weird that circumstances conspired to engineer such a thing.

As cool as those pictures were I couldn't help noticing that a lot of the sentences were missing periods Maybe there was a formatting error although that wouldn't explain it fully Perhaps the Bermuda Triangle ate them

Apparently the Nevada Tourist Commission used it in a promo even though it's not a public (or private) park:

Located on the privately held Fly Ranch in the Black Rock Desert, best known as the site of the annual Burning Man Festival, Fly Geyser is visible off State Route 447 near Gerlach, but it is fenced off behind a padlocked gate.

Doran Sanchez, chief of communications for the Bureau of Land Management in Nevada, said the owner of the property offers tours two or three times a year of the geyser, a man-made geologic oddity.

Sanchez said the BLM has no plans to try to acquire the land around Fly Geyser and the state doesn't have the resources to turn it into a park.

That was pretty crappy writing. Also, the Aurora Borealis isn't a place, and the Bermuda Triangle inclusion was lame.

Lechuguilla Cave is amazing. I used to work in the Carlsbad Caverns bookstore and we had a huge coffee book full of photos from there. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), it's not open to the public.
