Pfft. There's a certain level of depravity that only a 4-letter word and a squirrel with large nuts can achieve.

Looks like a watered-down, family version. Doesn't have the same zing to it when telling someone to "Go Readerplay yourself!"

FTA: The service pulls in the most popular pictures and videos from across the web, and presents them in a full-screen slideshow.

I did not read one word after that.

I checked it out and it's pretty neat, but I don't see it supplanting Fark.

Just another distraction.

Uh...that is retarded. Just what I wanted, a bunch of crap I don't care about in slide show form.

The Total Fark Discussion community is nothing but a much more moderated /b/ that you have to pay for.

Why do I love Fark?

Is it the sense of 4chan with all the 18-22 idiots removed?

Is it the feeling of seeing a headline and immediately thinking "This is going to be an AWESOME thread..."

Was it Anna Nicole Smith's funeral thread - complete with photoshopped coffins to allow proper clearance?

Or Manuel Uribe's wedding with an image of MSPaint and triangles depicting ramps to provide access to his naughty bits... that quickly spiraled into a LEGION of parody images?

Maybe it was the Most Tasteless Headline, Evar (tm): "Mike Tyson's daughter to spend eternity with that piece of Evander Holyfield's ear."?

Nah. It's because I can come here and see hundreds of threads and troll thousands of people. Who are trolls themselves.

I love Fark.

I'm never paying 1/3 of the monthly cost of World of Warcraft to see the crap that doesn't make it to the main page, though. Sorry, Drew, but maybe if you offered a $40/year package I'd do it...

2010-03-13 03:56:59 PM
Yeah, how about no.

Digg is retarded, but you can't replace Fark.

2010-03-13 03:57:26 PM
Yea, Jedekai, Fark has its own place in my heart.

Whenever I come across a new/crazy/important piece of news anywhere, I immediately think "Oh wow, I gotta check Fark comments"

Fark has hundreds of people doing fact checks, finding relevant information, and posting totally random comments for way too many lawls.

drew46n2: i only hope there's an exclusive side to google that we can pay a little extra for.

All it would do is remove the 'quality'/popularity filter from what content it shows you.

2010-03-13 04:05:15 PM
I like it. See ya later, Fark.

/til I get bored with it

2010-03-13 04:14:31 PM
No surprise that Drew is going to California. Fark makes no secret of it's political/societal leanings. He will probably be right at home in that Godless Communist Paradise.

Remember knol that was to be far superior than Wikipedia? Nothing happened.

Google should take on 4chan instead.

I sense great success in Google's future.

I hope Google invents a program to shampoo my crotch. Then I will admit they have taken over the net.

Namahs: Whenever I come across a new/crazy/important piece of news anywhere, I immediately think "Oh wow, I gotta check Fark comments"

This is one of the reasons why I read Fark and Slashdot so much and not Digg. Digg is teh stupid for comments.

But both sites also benefit from having their own subculture which this Google site (and Digg) don't have.

2010-03-13 04:56:13 PM
Because Google did so well taking on Facebook

2010-03-13 04:59:38 PM
I just spent 10 minutes using this. I want my time back.
The content began repeating after about 20 clicks, and a lot of the text was absolutely the wrong portion of the page/story to be posting.
Really awful.

That picture doesn't make sense-- the girl isn't 400lbs (unless it's JDTW, which opens another can of worms..)

Try as they may, Google will never ever out-snark FARK.

THis. That was complete ass. You'd think that teh mighty mighty Googles could use some sort of thingy to make sure you didn't get dupes all the time. Unless...and I'm just fishing here...that's all the stuff they had.

Wait, so it's a perpetual slideshow? Does google know *anything* about Fark?

Sounds like Fark is going to have to bring back the Boobies links to compete.

Frank N Stein: The Total Fark Discussion community is nothing but a much more moderated /b/ that you have to pay for.

That's only some of the dumber TF Discussion threads. I like Total Fark mostly because I can see upcoming greenlit links before they post to the main site, and when I've read every interesting link on Fark for the day, there are 2000 more on the Total Fark tab to scan through.

Jedekai I love Fark.

but would you turn off adblock for it?

This application isn't even remotely similar to Fark.

Frank N Stein: Oh, and: [Father/son Tard team]

That is about the most honest pic I've ever seen relating the relationship of Liters and TFers.
/except I'd say it was TFers that were the tards, what with payin' $5/mo for the same news we get for free.

You're missing the true purpose of this. You can use it to slideshow your google reader rss feeds. Add a few nsfw tumblr porn blogs...

/I realize you could do this with other rss readers before
//still, Google makes it easier

2010-03-15 03:19:26 AM
Yes, but will there be boobies?

A full-screen slideshow would facilitate great flapping.

/contemplates flapping whilst sipping a crisp, cool and refreshing Dr. Pepper.
