I'm a supporter of the idea that dogs turn out like their owners train them. Pitbulls don't grow up to be vicious animals that kill on sight, people train them to be that way.



But Dachshunds might just be the exception to that. I have never come across one that wasn't a vicious tear-your-ankle-to-shreds dog.

When she was a puppy one of her favorite games was grabbing the hanging sheet of toilet paper then running like hell through the house with it.

She outgrew it though.

Was at the pet park today with my 4 Dachshunds and there were probably 10 other Dachshunds there. No problems at all with any of them. It was the Schnauzers and Westies who were the little bastards.

I work with dogs, so I am really getting a kick out of these replies...
I've been bitten by more weiners, jack russells, and yorkies than any other breed of dog. A pit bull has never even looked at me with evil in it's eyes.

I always thought dachshunds were nasty dogs, but the one across the street is a sweetheart. She's not allowed to cross the street, but if she sees me or my husband or one of the neighborhood kids she trots over. So, to keep her from breaking the rules, of course I have to go over to her house to pet her.

/though when she gets excited she does pee, which is a bit nasty
