When I was a kid (heh) neighbors raised dairy goats. I'd take care of the goats when the family went on vacation. Goats are not very bright animals, nor were they particularly well-tempered.

New Zelanders can have their sheep, but for me you can't do better than a goat. When you grab on to the horns and they start bucking to get away? That's some good stuff right there.

Oooh, I wanna go to a goat show! Goats are funny! I remember this one interview I heard with a goat that just cracked me up, about how he had to hang out in the back of the truck all day and couldn't go in the house and stuff. And then they tried getting him to catch a football, which was HILARIOUS, because he's got no thumbs! It was great. I wonder if that goat's gonna be there--I might have to get tickets.

/Have fun mosh pitting!

Maybe your neighbours had one of the stupider breeds but we had Toggenberg goats on our family farm. They were experts at undoing latches, disassembling fences, and opening containers. A couple of them would climb up on things in the barn, unscrew lightbulbs with their lips, and leave them random places, unbroken. We did have one retarded one who ate garbage bags but he was a rescued goat from a guy who was told he couldn't have a goat in downtown Vancouver.

Now sheep, those are quite stupid and ill tempered. They'll get stuck on their back and just lie there.

I had a baby goat once that followed me around everywhere and called me ma. Then my mother made me take it back out to the farm.

They have freaky eyes.

I wouldn't know what breed they were, but I do remember that one of them managed to get her neck stuck under a swinging gate while I was trying to let her out. Had to get my dad to help me get her unstuck, because I couldn't hold the goat still, hold the gate still, and then try to extricate said goat from under the gate all at once.

Also, some of 'em did NOT like to be milked, guess they couldn't figger out that if I didn't milk 'em that their little udders were gonna asplode and that would be even less pleasant. I did have sympathy for the ones that got little stones or whatever in their milk, probably did hurt like a biatch passing those, some of 'em you'd have to squeeze pretty hard. Oddly enough those weren't often the mean-tempered ones, the biatchy ones were just bitter at the world, or didn't like being milked by a guy or something.

oh, and their eyes are creepy.
