They could have been.

The English Major: Rolling Stones are better than Led Zeppelin.

Zeppelin was better but the Stones are greater.

Led Zeppelin had one guitarist.

Rolling Stones needed two.

Not with Asshole Rose fronting them. Awful live show... seriously awful... like weapon's grade awful... actually, they'd have to improve before they even got to "awful".

They were the greatest band of the 80's/early 90's and their live show with Metallica kicked ass. Appetite is one of the greatest rock albums of all time. Flame away but it's true.

2010-03-12 10:56:35 AM
Chinese Democracy was their most listenable album yet. Seriously.

Agreed. Use Your Illusion was OK. Sounded different without Adler.

Nah they where only selling out arenas and tons of albums.

It did sound different, it sounded in time.

*Insert Pop Star* sells out arenas and tons of albums, so his/her music MUST be good!

Is there anyone who doesn't believe that at some point Axl, Slash, and the rest will need money so badly that a reunion tour happens? I have summer of 2015 in the pool.

I think Bucket-Head was a much better guitarist then Slash ever was...

Axl has nights where no one can touch him but those are rare especially now, but they put out one of the best rock albums of all time so I can forgive him.

Slash is a nice guy, and his book was great.

Maybe experimental but from a rock perspective that is just a stupid comment, all I could think of while listening to Chinese Democracy was how great this album would be with slash and without all that industrial grinding.

If slash, duff, and izzy would have been there it would have been a phenomenal album.

Sounded better. "You Could Be Mine" (the tune from Terminator 2) would have been on Appetite but apparently Adler couldn't do the drums.

Whenever they get inducted into the R&R HOF...that's when it'll happen. Adler may not still be alive then, but no matter since Sorum would fill in.

Whose side are you on here? The stuff from the Roxy in '86 or whenever is on youtube and it is phenomenal. Say what you will about Adler, but his chemistry with that band was far superior to Sorum's, as were his fills. You Could Be Mine was the only song Sorum played on in which the band got close to clicking on all cylinders.

Lady Gaga, Loverboy, Foreigner, Night Ranger and many, many other crappy performers also sell out (or used to sell out) large arenas and many albums. Sales are NOT an indication of talent.

That said, the early GnR was pretty good, even with Assl's weak vocals. His voice on "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" is dreadful. Dow-a-wo.

Is that the group that has the idiot that sounds like he is singing at gunpoint?

Slash knows that while Axl can get away with playing arenas as Guns 'N Ringers, Slash's best shot for a return to former glories is by patching things up with Axl. Ultimately, it doesn't matter, because Axl is apparently unable to get over it. And Izzy was always the soul of the band, anyway.

Betting most people here haven't seen the band live or know even a 10th of the history.

Slash chose to leave the band. Faxed his resignation to MTV because frankly, Slash is a media whore. Sued Axl MULTIPLE times because Axl wouldn't sell out and license GN'R music in a crapload of shiatty movies.

Axl's version of GN'R manages to pull in better numbers than Velvet Revolver did, let alone Slash solo. Slash actually went crawling back once already and wasn't given the time of day.

I actually like Slash but it's obvious he's driven by his wife and a need to be in the spotlight. The guy blew through cash due to his addictions, luckily he's got endorsement money and royalties. Axl invested wisely, got off the drugs, and is selling out shows in South America right now. Slash is going to be playing what, clubs on this solo tour?

You are 100% wrong. The songs were licensed to films off the first album to garner publicity since it sold for shiat when it first came out, then the record company put their songs in films(bad dreams, dead pool) produced by the same record company(geffen), hell they even had a cameo in the funeral scene in dead pool. Slash thought it was bad at the time but they didnt have much of a choice since the album took over a year to take off.

GnR pulls better numbers because of the name, look at pink floyd and roger waters, he was the brains behind it but when he left floyd he could sell out any arenas but the rest of the band did without him. Its the recognition and you can bet there are more people that have seen a bad axl show than a bad slash show, axl just doesnt seem to care sometimes. And the crawling back is an exaggeration by axl and his cronies, slash drunkenly stumbled past his house and rang the gate to which axl was his normal douchey self.

Hell I love the band but its obvious that axl isnt shiat without the rest of the guys to steer the sound to rock when axl just wants to use keyboards and other shiat.

Actually, I'm 100% right. Please do your homework. Yes, a few songs were licensed off AFD in the beginning, and a few still are - Sweet Child O'Mine on Big Daddy, You Could Be Mine in T4, etc.

However Axl has nixed several licensing deals in recent years.

Slash and Duff sued due to this. In a seperate lawsuit, they sued when their royalty checks didn't arrive, which turned out to be an ASCAP error.

Simply because you don't know about it doesn't mean it's not true. Slash's lawsuit on this issue was very public knowledge.

I saw G&R back in January, they put on a pretty damn good show. Hell, they even sounded really good.
