"I told you she didn't have a dick"

HA!!

2010-03-12 03:13:35 AM
That was kind of what I picture a bad acid trip to be like.

I'm surprised at how amused I was by it.

Wow... I don't even have words for that.

Wow, the commercials you have to watch before the videos on youtube just keep getting longer and longer.

2010-03-12 05:26:28 AM
She's the Björk of modern times. The advertising is intentional, she's making fun of blatant advertising. It's about about the idea that America is full of young people that are inundated with information and technology and the aim of the 'Telephone' video is to turn it into something that was more of a commentary on the kind of country that USA is

The weird editing toward the end reminded me of something Eric Wareheim would direct for Major Lazer like this.

I love it.

It's like the video people compiled all my fantasies of women in the slammer and made a cool video.

Yup, I knew that Lady Gaga didn't have a dick, she is all woman.

2010-03-12 05:45:12 AM
Okay, to be honest here - I really hate her music. It's not my thing, but this video was pretty hysterical. The dick joke right at the beginning along with the pixelated snatch was pure awesome.

Oh and I want to penis Beyonce Knowles so bad. I had no idea. NO IDEA.

I'm a fan but I never really liked this song, although since seeing the video it's grown on me. Maybe because it's now associated in my mind with a half dozen almost-naked hot female prisoners dancing together.

2010-03-12 05:52:10 AM
I lasted until the song actually started, and the autotune drove me away.

I will say, though, that she did look quite attractive.

Volume off, pants open. Just like when I was 11 and watching MTV.

I don't know if that's the look she was going for but Lady GaGa really looks like Madonna in that video. Song's kind of meh, though.

I'm pretty sure it was intentional. There is a lot of sarcasm in that video.

Gaga is this generation's Madonna. I've said that for over a year now.

2010-03-12 06:43:13 AM
I caught the Tiberium reference too. Odd. At first I was interested... but....

It's heavily sponsored, regurgitated, pop culture vomit. At least Tim and Eric and Tarantino try to be original.

2010-03-12 06:46:29 AM
What was with the Plenty of Fish plug? That was an odd choice of product placement.

Also, I like how Lady Gaga is going to continue to flash us her crotch in skimpier and skimpier outfits until we're convinced she doesn't have a penis.

She loves that rumour. She is a genius at playing the media. Better than Madonna.

2010-03-12 07:00:49 AM
And where'd she get the Tiberium from? The Brotherhood of Nod? She has Kane on her contact list?

My girlfriend's been saying that as well. I really couldn't care less, I can't stand her music.
/is this video worth watching on mute?

2010-03-12 07:09:04 AM
The music was what I expected from her, the t&a was nice, the video was pretty damn bad.

2010-03-12 07:10:10 AM
Hobodeluxe: Gaga is this generation's Madonna. I've said that for over a year now.

Considering that she has said that Madonna is her biggest influence, it shouldn't be news to anyone. Why that information is taking up space in my brain, I have no idea.

2010-03-12 07:13:40 AM
I watched it on mute, but there was like an edit point every second during her dance routines. Either she can't dance worth shiat or the "style" was an ADHD video.

Either way, I'm not buying what she's selling.

2010-03-12 07:17:24 AM
1. Butterface
2. Crap, just when Madonna is in the twilight of her career.

I think what you saw was intentional. It went along with the song doing some stuttering shiat.

I think I'm too old to enjoy her music but I've loved watching her career. She's been writing hits for singers a lot longer than she's been singing them, and she knows what she's doing as far as becoming rich and famous.

2010-03-12 07:27:52 AM
I just want to point out to the dull witted that the product sponsorship stuff is most likely satirical.

I do not like this woman's music (I'd rather jab a fork in my ear), but I believe that a lot of her act is heavily based around postmodernist deconstructionist philosophy. I don't know if this is intentional on her part either through schooling, or if it's just her nature, but often I wonder if she's not some odd combination of Andy Warhol and Jacques Derrida (obviously sans the penis).

Yes, she is probably not as literate or as articulate with words as either men, but like Warhol, she has the ability to deconstruct what makes pop culture work and like Derrida she seems to naturally hone in on the irreconcilable and contradictory nature of said pop culture.

I really wish I could talk to her for just 15 minutes so that I could suss out if she's actually rather educated on this matter, or if she's just comes by the sense naturally.

//delighted by the Pussy Wagon

//slashies
/cos I'm drunk and I love Lady Gaga and her sweet tushie

It is so sardonic and laden with product placement. It is a work of art in its most blatant sense. If the sign of times were to cry for attention, this would be the video it would use as its medium.

2010-03-12 07:35:25 AM
I actually liked that....and now I'm confused, because I shouldn't have liked that.

You can find her bio online, and while her formal education is not that impressive, she has the pinnings of a very intelligent person (self-taught musician, accepted to Julliard as a teen, early to college, etc). I don't like that people discount the brilliance of her work as a musical ARTIST simply because they don't like the music. That's like saying Kandinsky is no good because you don't like red, there's more to art than taste.

TwistedFark: I really wish I could talk to her for just 15 minutes so that I could suss out if she's actually rather educated on this matter, or if she's just comes by the sense naturally.

I'm pretty sure she knows exactly what she's doing, by virtue of the fact that she has full creative control over all aspects of her....art. The clothes, the music, the videos...it's all her direction and vision.

And obviously she's tapping into the electroclash scene (10 years later, I might add), which was ALL about the kitsch-ironic exaggeration of "haute couture", commercialism and fashion, like most things in the 90s were.

Sorry, I have a policy of not checking out any song that has ft., or feat. or featuring in the song title, as it's always throw away music.

2010-03-12 08:31:42 AM
I guess I could get a little distraught that my Lady Gaga link didn't get lit up green. It makes no difference really, since I only found the video through my own "big-headed self adulation drummer trip" of uploading my band's 2nd time of playing GTBT by Zep.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsIBKfFBhvc

Regardless, I'll post it here anyway because I was really hoping that it'd make the cut. Unfortunately, just like my fat ass trying out for the 7th grade basketball team, it didn't.

Yeah, but it was a commentary on commercialism and product placement by being a commercial, so it's cool. Honestly, I don't think anyone needed this video explained to them, I'm pretty sure we all "get" it. A commercial is still a commercial.

not that this has anything to do with Lady Gaga, but there are literally thousands of songs that feature other artists and aren't throw away music. you either don't focus on music enough to make accurate statements, or you're an untrained troll. either way, good DAY, sir!
