This story should have been labeled "SAD", becasue the whole damn incident is sad.

agreed breezy

Ok, I think it's really sad that MSNBC has to have those damned x10 adds!!!! those piss me off to no end. I don't want your stinking camera, and the more your flash your adds at me, the more I don't want it. Grr...

only 300 bodies recovered, over 6000 still missing

I'm the one that posted this one and I didn't want to just call it "sad" because of the use they're planning to put the remaining fragments to. Can you imagine being in New York in a few years and going to the site to see the last fragment standing tall, broken but still reaching for the sky?

Damn... *sniff* teary just thinking about it.

Over a million tons left to clean up. I just can't imagine there is just no words to explain it.

Can we put Sin Laden's head atop it? When it is turned into a memorial?

Hastur, if you're teary eyed then it must be sad.
Knit-picking...i know.

DATGNAT: if you want to be REALLY nit-picky, it's "nit-picking" and not "knit-picking." tee hee, I just had to say it.

Don't you guys think that the engineers, etc. of the building should get medals of some sort too? I mean, a lot of lives were lost, but due to the engineering practices and design, things were a lot better than they could have been.

6300/50000 = 13% of lives lost. That's actually pretty impressive.

I loved the link from about a week ago - a son's letter to his father, a designer of the WTC, and his father's reply...
2001-09-27 01:45:49 PM
can someone repost that here?
2001-09-27 01:54:10 PM
yeah... but it was teary-eyed in an "inspiring and just so amazing I can't contain it" sort of way. Thinking about the tragedy and how it showed us all the worst... and best... we can be. The monument would be a challenge to us all to live up to the heroism of those days.

Anybody else notice this in the headliner of the article?

The city has speeded up the process

how do you "speeded" up something?

Me fail english? That's unpossible!!

I just wanted to say "Hi!" to everyone. I'm sorry I've been away. I don't have access to the internet at work anymore and I don't get much time at home. I have thought about everyone in our little community and hoped that no one lost a friend or family member. I don't know if any Farkers were hurt or killed, I hope not. I love everyone here (even the trolls) and I can't imagine a world without all of you. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone.

BOOBIES shares the same sentiment!

I wanted that section to still be standing, like the fragments of that one cathedral in England damaged during German air raids in World War II. It would be a nice memorial, and it could be decorated or something.

Heck - I made a Flash thing about the loss of the buildings last weekend... I couldn't deal with even trying to comprehend the loss of 6000 people... it just blew my mind. So I researched about the towers. This is what I came up with:

Let's hear it for the common working 'man
who walked into hell and took matters in hand
'He is the reason this land is great and free
sight unseen, he is my friend
And the first round is on me
