I'm more concerned about the uncaught serial rapists. You know, the ones with popped collars and spiky haircuts.

I could combine this with the Eric Massa saga and make a 'tickling the ivory' joke...but I won't.

The pupil is twelve, attractive, withdrawn
In a midnight blue school uniform
Lips just a little too full for her face
Distant eyes full of space
In her posture no trace of coquette
No defiance

She fingers the frets looking forlorn
Crossing her legs where her tights have been torn
Starts as her mother comes into the room
And the afternoon grows still
And her mother feels chill
Shivers and buttons her coat

I gently correct the curve of her back
And open her book in the now-empty flat
At the classical piece I've had her prepare
And her arms are bare as she plays
And I draw back behind her ear
A few strands of hair gone astray

She shows me her bracelet, the lesson is done
I turn it around between finger and thumb
We sit face to face and it seems to me that
Her face is the face of a cat
And touching the place where her breasts will be
I press my hand flat

She comes into my lap, I turn her around
Her hands clasp my neck and her feet skim the ground
Her skirt travels up under my palm
But the pupil sits looking so calm
As if listening to the distant sound
Of a burglar alarm

What happened next it's hard to recall
The guitar lesson left no traces at all
Now, from afar, it seems to resemble
A strange composition in oil
Of a man, a guitar, and an innocent little girl

Looking like a registered sex offender should be grounds for having to register as a sex offender.

Let's start at the local Wal-mart and work our way out.

I don't mind the whole "registered sex offender" thing, but to force someone to divulge every aspect of their life after they have paid their debt to society (ie served their sentence) is stupid. Why should this guy to report his website?

I'm not saying that possessing kiddie porn is OK. I think this guy is scum. I just don't agree that he should have to tell the authorities within 30 minutes of creating an email address.

"There's no evidence that Mr. Dillon touched any children-it's just the simple possession of child pornography," said Walker. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison on each count.

First off, in no way shape form or fashion do I condone this type of behavior but goddam. It's not like he was making kiddie porn flicks. He might be a little twisted in the head but five years for being a perv? Hell, even I've thought about robbing a bank. I've even watched footage of said robberies on World's Wildest (whatever).

what exactly is child porn anyway? Are we talking about 15 yr olds who look like they 20 or are we talking 5 yr olds here?

Also as disturbing as it is for someone to watch child porn has there ever been any scientific correlation between merely watching and actually acting out on their fetish?

I think it's ridiculous and so screwed up someone gets 10 yrs for posession but gets 5 for an actual rape!

I would guess the website is probably a violation in and of itself, since it advertises his service to minors.

Of course, in some states (Florida), access to a computer is a violation.

"Police say as a registered sex offender, he had an obligation to report his website."

Amendment XXIX of the United States Consititution:
Congress shall pass no law encumbering or restricting activities of an individual or group of US citizens that does not also apply equally to Congress itself and each of its members in all particulars, excepting in cases of an adverse effect upon the national security, or that would result in an inability of Congress to carry out other of its constitutionally-mandated duties.

This means that the federal government shall not target a law or set of laws against a specific person or group of persons.

Article Six of the United States Constitution:
This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.

This means that the piece of paper of the Constitution trumps all local and State laws and any State law that goes against the wording of this piece of paper is in violation of this piece of paper.

So either require everyone to register their website with the police, not live within 1000 yards of a school or park or playground and require everyone to notify the police of their location and do periodic checkins and allow their house to be searched without warrants or find a way to deal with these sickos that does not piss on the Constitution.

The fact that no lawyer has dared challenge these unconstitutional laws going into effect around the nation shows what an unpopular bunch these people are, and rightly so. But, they should be treated no different than a murderer. A murderer walks away on parole, can live anywhere, work anywhere that will hire him and has no limits on his activities. If we really think a murderer is that sick and heinous, we deny parole. Pederasts should be treated the same. Either keep them locked up or let them have their freedom if you're going to release them. Special rules just for them do not cut it.

It should be stated that if you unknowingly open a file that has child porn on it and say, "OH shiat!" and immediately delete it, opening up pictures of Salma Hayek as eye bleach, unless you've taken steps to really delete it (that most people don't know how to do), it's not really deleted from your hard drive. And your life is just as ruined as the aberration who genuinely gets off on the stuff.

I agree but "The Guitar Lesson" is actually a pretty great song by Momus. The best version is one by Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree.

I believe the song was inspired by a Balthus painting.

No, you should be thinking about everybody and about restrictions on the government's ability to put people on lists and make up special rules for them. No one likes child molestors so they are low hanging fruit. But government never crosses a line just a little. They will use that model to branch out into other "offenders" lives too, eventually.

This dudes no molester. Just like the guy with simpsons porn in Australia. So yer argument is nutless, sry. If someone poses that much danger then you should lobby to have them incarcerated indefinitely. Before we know if he had real kiddie porn or just some pumped up jackboot's idea of KP, like say a shot of 17yr old Anna Kornikova or hilarious joke pics of simpsons or jetsons incest then we cant' really say if this is one of the many REAL kiddie fiddlers or one of the MANY totally innocent dudes caught up in the mindless obsession with obsenity and mind control perpetuated by BOTH sides, right wing wants to censor your porn, left wing wants to censor your videogames, all to keep you thinking right. I'm all for stopping the supply demand structure for child porn, but it the system you people currently have in place is not just unjust, it's totally insane.

I think we could safely say that people who become pedos probably started out by looking at kiddie porn. But did that cause or encourage their behavior, and was it just the starting point?

It's like saying that people who do hard drugs started out by smoking pot. Yeah, they probably did, but I still don't think that smoking pot triggers anyone to shoot up heroin.
