This is college basketball. Isn't it the coach's job to be the leader?

I'm an Illini/Bruce Weber fan and even I'm not seeing the point of this greenlight.

/Get some shiat done in the Big Ten or So Tournament or prepare for a quest to be the 66th best team in college baskeball.

As a Wisconsin fan I hope to dash the Illini's hopes of competing in the Big Dance this year. Two more days.

No, it's his job to recruit a bunch of "one and dones", put his program on probation, and then leave.

/wash, rinse and repeat

Unless Weber can improve his recruiting skills, 18-13 will be the norm.

/NIT anyone?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, they need a big man that can't be pushed around by a 10 year old girl. Tisdale and Davis are skinnier than the Olsen twins.

Weber did make a case for the Illini making the tournament, noting some of their more impressive wins this year - at Wisconsin and at Clemson.

I have nothing to say about Illinois but saw a great opportunity to state, yet again, that Clemson is perpetually over-ranked early in the season.

A season like this is why I am glad the NCAA posted all the Sweet Sixteen (and after) games from the past ten years. I just turn on the Ill/Arizona game when I want to see leadership from my team. He is currently a great leader for Utah.

No one is better at leading his team to playoff whuppings by the Lakers. No one.

Well now, what happened is... ahm... one of our coaches, he had a sort of... well, he went a little funny in the head... you know... just a little... funny.

Demetri is definitely the leader in pouting, moaning, and sandy vaginas. A dog who chewed up your slippers makes more eye contact than he does.
We need to beat Wisconsin on Friday!

Yeah... if only he could get a top 20 recruiting class...

Oh wait, this year had a top 15 class and next years is top 10.

Weber recruits fine. After the Gordon debacle, he clearly prefers players who will not be one and dones, and instead fit into the system he runs.

He has re-established U of I in the Public League, a place that Illinois was not able to recruit for almost 20 years. He has continued to lock down Peoria, probably one of the best per capita talent bases in the nation. His work in-state has been very good. And his coaching has always been his strong point. The improvement of players like Williams, Brown, Head, McCamey, Jordon, Frazier, etc. has proven that he is very good with guards. Probably could use a little improvement with the bigs, but at least he is putting Tisdale and Davis in position to use their skills to the best of their abilities.

Wait...was that a well-reasoned, thought out response?

You do know this is Fark, right? You post made too much sense and did not contain enough wharrgarbl.

That said, I like Weber a lot. I'm a little biased, though: I went to Southern Illinois when he was coaching there. Good times...

Well said Pujols. I mean in Champaign they can at least say, "Hey at least we aren't as totally sucky as Iowa or Indiana."
