Was this actually a story?

Did anyone really care about the missing stick (other than the media)?

Just another reason Bergeron shouldn't have been on the team.

I'm sure the Hall of Fame and/or the person to whom they belong to (S. Crosby) care.

Not to mention souvenir collectors who'd have paid through the nose for it. It's a piece of hockey history.

This is all a Hockey Canada ploy.

My guess is that the gear was never misplaced and Hockey Canada used it to generate interest in the auction. Or, someone pocketed the stuff and Hockey Canada is replacing it (hush-hush) and acting as though someone found it.

It's the old small-town newspaper trick - some local fast-food restaurant puts an inflatable burger on its roof, someone "steals" said burger on a slow news day, generating a front-page story, a follow-up three days later, then the final story on the return of the burger three days after. None of which is news, but bored reporters are bored and fast-food people are almost as smart as carnies.

The radio station in my home town has an inflatable pig that "blows away" at least once every summer. It has happened so often that they now get an extra article out of the cycle, the one where the station manager and/or one of the on-air people explains why it isn't a hoax.

Screw Crosby. He is such a whiner. Yeah, I know that is part of his job as captain. I am just in a foul mood as the Kings just tied the Hawks. And Toews gets a penalty. F**k. 2-1 Kings. I am about to start breaking things.

FTFA: Crosby's stick was located in Toronto as part of a shipment heading to the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Okay, Vernon Fiddler was being a prick to a couple of 'Nucks players, and Burrows told him he was going to play in England for the rest of his career.

Why is Hockey Canada happy to have the glove and stick back??? They don't have the glove and stick. Crosby does. Now his decision to do whatever he wants to do with em'.

No guarantee they will go to the hall of fame.

/Not that Toronto needs to be any douchier anyway.
