You can mess with many things, but you best not mess with a man's beer.

I guess they read the thread yesterday and realized they went after the wrong guys.

This whole thing is still extremely stupid.

Shouldn't this sort of thing be handled with a letter and the administration of a fine of some sort rather than night raids with armed officers?

That's some nice police work there Lou. I wonder if they stole the knock off jeans as well.

PLCB and PSP at their finest.

I, for one, am glad that they have solved the violent crime problem in Philadelphia so that those resources may be used to fight the awful plight of people having a decent beer!

Yeah, you'd think some form of inspector with a beer list would go in, look over the cases and write down the boozes in violation and hand the owner a fine / court summons. Why do we need a SWAT Team to raid a beer distributor.

Quiet with that reasoned response, citizen, they were selling beer that was properly licensed, paperwork handled... But it was Belgian!

Police State. I blame morans who think that continuously giving more unchecked power and authority to cops will make them safer.... If only there was a quote by a famous Pennsylvanian addressing such people....

"The state doesn't understand that Duvel actually is registered and has been sold here for years and years. It's almost unbelievable."

Ha! It's not even remotely unbelievable. If only there were some sort of right allowing citizens to arm themselves in order to regulate the militia... (That' the way I like to interpret it.)

2010-03-10 03:40:56 PM
The State Police banned further sales of the Monk's brew, for instance, in spite of "Monk's Cafe Ale" being listed on the LCB's Web site as a registered beer. And it told Origlio's to stop selling Duvel in spite of the fact that "Duvel Beer" is listed by the LCB.

this should help both the local budget and the local economy.

they're taking our Paulaner and Russian River? Heading to my distributor now, and stopping at Lowe's on the way home to pick up a pitch fork for the uprising.

Don't prosecutors usually direct the police to make a raid based on a hinky piece of legislation, then WAIT until the judge rules on the legitimacy of that legislation before scheduling more raids?

/Unless they're not trying to do what's right, or even what's legal, but are just trying to cause as much damage as they can...

All the people I've dealt with from Origlio have been straight up good guys, they have been in the business for years and no one understands our crazy retarded PA liquor laws as well as the people in the business. What a farking waste of public resources, why do we even need state police in the first place?

I'm gonna propose an amendment to the constitution. From this day forth, men should have the right to bear arms. AND the right to arm bears. There, I said it.

Luckily, these articles have brought to my attention that there is a beer called Duvel, and it is highly recommended. I shall purchase said beverage, consume it until inebriated, ravage my wife and pass out. I will likely have nice dreams and wake up with a headache.
Oh yeah, and I don't like cops.

2010-03-10 03:50:58 PM
The State Police proceeded with the latest raid in spite of the confusion.

Seriously, what problem with this is so bad that you had to proceed "in spite of the confusion"? It's not like you're removing a child from a potentially dangerous home situation "until it all gets sorted out" - it's friggin BEER.

Unfortunately, the Alpha Males (Cops, politicians, clergymen) of our society just can't stand the idea of anybody enjoying their lives, because it just makes their tiny dicks seem shorter. They also take it as a serious affront if someone denies them their precious money or bends down to kiss their boots.

Yeah, no respect for cops. Fear, yes, but I consider them bullies and their only real use is battling with other bullies (supposedly the 'bad guys'). The problem is, when they run out of real bullies to battle (or cannot beat 'em!), they turn their tiny attentions to bullying you and me.

We really have some evolving to do.

Shouldn't these guys be arresting robbers and rapist or something? Idiot cops. And they wonder why the public has little to no respect for them.

What's sad is the PA State Police have a mandate to kind of be a state sized version of the FBI. They could be doing all kinds of useful things, like missing person cases, Harrisburg is a decent sized hub for human trafficking for some odd reason, and there are other useful and legit things the PA State Police could be doing. Instead the citizens of PA get this shiat.

The State Police officers that raided the bar aren't "regular" PSP Troopers -- they're specifically hired, trained, and commissioned "Liquor Enforcement Officers" that do nothing but enforce PA's bizarre liquor laws. So it's not much of a surprise that they'd go nuts and jump at the chance to kick in doors and seize stuff, you know, "Like them real cops on the TV."

The regular PSP is a pretty decent organization, as far as police go. Every encounter I've had with them over the 10 years I've lived in PA has been positive -- and that's something I can't say about the various local departments in PA, or the state departments in other jurisdictions. Then again, I'm white, well-spoken, well-off, and a lawyer, so I'm not exactly a prime candidate for any sort of bully cop bullshiat.

The 500 gallons of beer were removed by van to the BLCE warehouse, where the 400 gallons of beer were valued at approximately $450,000. The 350 gallons of beer will be held until the paperwork can be cleared up, at which point the 200 gallons of beer will most likely be returned to the importer.
