Another such incident occurred when a 60 cm (24-inch) Pacu (named Pacu) jumped out of his tank in Fort Worth, TX and bit the nose off of his owner. The nose was later reattached, sans left nostril.

Woke up to a story about this on Morning edition last weekend or the weekend before. Neat fish. Not for the home aquarium, though. Buttkiss is a runt. Black pacu can get over 3' long and weight a couple hundred pounds. If they must be kept in a tank, the walls need to be extra thick, because they will charge them and break them. A single pacu needs at least 500 gallons of tank space at full growth.

That said, they love brazil nuts (which apparently soften a bit in the water.)
