More concern about winning and whooping Favre's arse....

Less time trying to dazzle others with old uniforms.

That'll be different for sure! I had heard that years and years ago the uniform was blue.

I don't think I like any of the old-timey uniforms so far. The Dallas Cowboys one is the least offensive to the eyes.

I like the Tennesee Titans one, but...uh...that's pretty inappropriate, I think.

Yeah, get that marketing team to analyze Favre's 3rd and short strategies!

/I guess I'll be getting another Don Hutson jersey

Didn't they wrap their heads with useless leather helmets... to keep stuff from leaking out?

The Oakland Raiders' white throwbacks this past season were beautiful. They're my favorite uniforms of all time.

No that's it, and it's beautiful. The ones they wore recently were silver on the inside instead of gold, but I love it. The outlined numbers, the metallic color silver, the lack of anything stupid and annoying...

The Cowboy's throwback is indeed awesome. I also enjoyed the Jets' throwback uniforms from last season as well.

I didn't know about the five year thing. Kind of sucks, if you think about it - even if you have a third uniform everyone loves, you have to get rid of it in favor of the NFL's fashion police....

\hoping the rumors of a modernized red Patriots jersey is true....

Yup. Originally the colors were Navy and Gold, the same as Notre Dame's. This was because the founder of the team, Curly Lambeau, went to Notre Dame (but only for a year). They were nicknamed the Bay Blues and actually considered changing the name to the Blues at one point.

When Lombardi got there, he requested the team colors be changed to what they are today.

Were they so crazy looking so you could recognize the team on TV. I assumed they wore those when TV was black and white so it was easy to identify them. If that is not the case there is no excuse for those abominations.

Oh, I didn't think you said it in a nasty way. I was just pointing out a very unique thing about the Packers: they don't keep their profits.

Well I like them even more now. I heard an interview with Ryan Grant after their playoff loss and was really impressed. He seems like a real class act and has became one my favorite players in the league.

Ironically, when they used leather helmets, they didn't lead hits with their heads, and they didn't get the concussions and brain damage later generations would get.

Wait, is that ironic? Irony police, can you help me out here?

Favre's still noncommittal about wearing that when he returns to the Packers in 2015.

Panty Sniffer: So they are playing for Notre Dame now? I used to live very close to Green Bay and their weren't that many Irish or Catholics around.

not that i think there's a conscious connection to notre dame in the revival of this uniform (regardless of lambeau's reasons for designing it thus), but green bay is over 70% catholic.

I love all the throwbacks for their simplicity. Of course now they all have logos, brands, GU insignias, etc. plastered all over them.

On a side note, the Texans have a lame uninspired uniform and logo. I'd probably be a bigger fan if their uniforms didn't suck so bad.

I'd really like to see the Cowboys use their throwbacks in place of the current uniform. The white helmet and navy jersey are simple and classy. The disco silver I can do without.

That's true, although my statement about me being a bigger fan was a joke. I just think it's lame. You have a clean slate as a new team coming into the league and you steal a crappy name from an old Dallas AFL team and choose your colors as red, white and blue. Meh.

The Patriots were so confused by those uniforms that they lost on that day.

No one has mentioned the badness of the old Tampa Bay uniforms yet? Between the colors and the queer winking pirate, I mean come on. Easily the worst uniform ever.

I believe the owner bought them cheap after a HS or college all star game. The only lasted a season or two.

If there were any justice, they would have been the Oilers. But, Bud Adams has the rights to that name and logo locked up, and wouldn't allow a Browns situation to happen with that name.

Anyway...

The original Broncos uniforms were bought from local high school teams. They were so bad, that after a coaching change in '62 or so, the new coach finally got the head office to spring for new uniforms, and before a game, there was a big bonfire held to burn the ugly striped abominations.

/gotta love the NFL: History of... DVD series.
