NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :-(

2010-03-09 10:39:55 PM
I gave up after the first 24 minutes of the pilot. I've never thought that show was anything but suckage.

FTFA: Studio and network execs declined comment -- but it's believed that the final decision will be made in the next day or two. Move is not a huge surprise, but still reps the end of an era for Fox.

Script is said to have come through "24" star Sutherland

Show has also won both the Emmy and the Golden Globe awards

What kind of farking grammar is that? It's like somebody just took their crib notes and wrote them down wholesale. How farking lazy do you have to be to not spell out "represents" and instead just farking type "reps"?

I weep for the future.

I thought this year has been pretty damn good. I would never go see a movie. Maybe rent it.

Good riddance.

I know you enjoy reruns of Blossom.

Well, I too say good riddance, but I will comfort myself with DVDs of The Wire, Homicide, Boston Legal, Boomtown, Due South, Psych, MST3K, Chuck, Futurama...well, I could go on.

Well, seeing as how Variety has been using the same grammatical style since about 1905, I think the future is safe.

The English Major: Psych

You are a good person. I've gotten to be a big fan of White Collar as well. That's a fun show.

Aww...thanks. And yes it is. I finally caught up with it a couple of weeks ago. And I enjoy Burn Notice too. While I am sad Monk is over, USA still has some quality programming.

/it wasn't until the third season of Psych that I realized Lassiter had a role in Seinfeld; he was the Ross's son and appeared in The Cheever Letters

The English Major: And I enjoy Burn Notice too

How the hell can anyone not like Burn Notice? MacGyver + Bond + Bruce Campbell + hot (insert preferred sex here) everywhere. Show is a guaranteed win/win.

My current vices are Psych, Burn Notice, White Collar and House. Past ones include Better Off Ted (Damn you ABC!), Scrubs, and West Wing.

GAT_00: Better Off Ted (Damn you ABC!)

I have hopes for his new NBC pilot, Nathan VS Nurture.

House I watch in reruns; I never got into it initially.

/and yes, I watch NBC's Thursday Night lineup, CBS's Monday Night Comedies, and Chuck too

I thought the latest episode was pretty good. Jack Bauer: The Godfather of violence, extortion, and subornation. Say everything with a growl and in wispy tones. Winner winner chicken dinner.

24 has become bleak and too melodramatic, if that's possible.

/they need more daylight in that show
//24: Miami. Yeeeaahhhhhhhhh!

Variety's a trade mag; assumes you're skimming for info, not evaluating for Pulitzer.

I'm assuming the sad tag is for the effort of the writers this season.

OnmyojiOmn: 24 is truly bottom-rung, absolutely lowest-common-denominator shiat for idiots.

This includes people who watch it because they enjoy its badness, or for something in the background while they play Farmville. Networks monitor viewership, asshats. You are why we can't have nice things. Yes, you, specifically, singularly, YOU, you cock. We could have had any number of great shows these last eight seasons if you had given the networks any indication of intelligence.

In other news, Breaking Bad returns for a third season soon.

/Best show on TV.

//Can't happen soon enough.

Great show for the first two seasons. Very poor afterwards. Once the war on terror got going, Joel Surnow was such a Bush supporter 24 just became porn for utilitarians.

2010-03-10 07:44:57 AM
Knowing Fox, look out for 24: The Next Generation with Elisha Cuthbert in the lead.

This.

When you had some Republicans quoting the show like it was real life in defense of torture, the bloom was off the rose. I'd bet that's when the show started to decline in ratings as well.

2010-03-10 08:44:51 AM
"24" was the funniest show on TV for the first half of its run, but they ran out of jokes. I mean, they used the same jokes every year, like CTU having the worst operational security ever (remember that season there was a mole in CTU?).

2010-03-10 08:53:04 AM
"Ray's pitch, which takes Jack Bauer to Europe, was a hit with Fox execs and producers of the high-concept television series."

Wonder how that idea was bourne?

2010-03-10 08:54:07 AM
Much as I believe this show has outstayed its welcome, it would be a shame to end it with its worst season.

2010-03-10 09:03:34 AM
NUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

Actually I'm fine with it, as I haven't seen this season yet, and am more into Bones.

\new episodes of Bones need to come out already!
\\So I can buy them on DVD!

If they could have done something like that to lost. I think it would have been a great mini series, but after 3 seasons, I quit watching because the story changed so little.

I have an idea for a replacement.

Title: Due Process is for Sissy Mary Foo Foos.

Genre: Government must employ technology and subvert laws to catch terrible bad people.

Main Character: Leo Strauss, America's Hero!

Plot: Bad people with bad ideas are threatening American's comfort. Only Leo Strauss, America's Hero can round them up and put them in jail. No court, no lawyers, just head busting incarceration and execution.

Yeah, yeah!

2010-03-10 09:27:17 AM
I thought this was announced before this season started?

I've watched every season of 24...it's cool...is it remotely realistic? nah...but it's entertainment...who cares. Not like LOST is remotely based in reality.

2010-03-10 09:47:16 AM
The first 11 hours of Day 1 were fantastic. They should have called it "12" and stopped there.

Conspiracies wrapped in conspiracies wrapped in conspiracies is just lazy writing.

"After defusing the nuclear bomb, saving the President, rescuing your daughter from mountain lions, and capturing me, you think you may have saved the day, Jack, but you don't know who's really pulling the strings, so I demand immunity."

Liked the first two seasons. Third season was just all sorts of weird so I stopped watching after that. Oh well, eight years is a good run. I enjoyed what I watched of it, but I'm not so Palin-American I'd base constitutional law on it (*cough* Scalia *cough*).

8 seasons is enough

C'mon, you have to admit that Jack pulling a knife out of his gut and throwing it into a Russian mobsters throat was one of the all-time great Jack kills.

...THIS...

...i couldn't stop laughing...it missed every vital organ and he landed a perfect throw straight out of a spetznaz training video...people can say what they want about 24, but for someone who watched the a-team growing up, i enjoy a show with senseless violence, government traitors and conspiracies, and depictions of impossible, near superhuman feats...of course, the body count was quite lower on the a-team, but we love our violence now, don't we...?

/lost sucks
//so does your other favorite show

Sutherland and the "24" team have been keen on turning the show into a movie property, and have made major strides in recent months toward making that long-term goal a reality.

WTF are they gonna call it? "2"?
