Email I received about it several hours ago.

Routine university operations continue after shooting on campus

At approximately 3:30 a.m. today Ohio State's emergency dispatch received a 911 call indicating that a shooting had occurred at the OSU Maintenance Building, 2000 Tuttle Park Place.

Upon arrival, officers confirmed a shooting involving three University employees, none of which were students. One employee is dead. The other two have been transported to the hospital. The investigation is continuing and no names have been released pending notification of family.

The site location has been secured and there are some traffic restrictions around the building. The suspect is in custody.
The university continues normal operations. Classes will be held and normal work schedules are in effect.

Boy oh boy, another school shooting. On the plus side, it does seem to progress with the generation. The kids shooting up middle schools and high schools yesterday are shooting up their college campuses today. I predict a surge in workplace shootings in the future.

This happened near a building called the McCracken Power Plant. It's common OSU folklore that a new smokestack is built every time a virgin graduates. It has two smokestacks.

/and looks vaguely like the building on the cover of Pink Floyd's "Animals" album.

It is a very big school. I remember hearing somewhere that if the picked up the school and put it down in a cornfield somewhere it would be the 7th largest city in Ohio. 55,00+ undergrad, 15-20,000 grad, Profs, admins, maintenance, etc. adds up to a lot of people.

I'm confused. Maintenance workers are synonymous with drug dealers?

This point, however, is one I wanted to make. Who shows up at 3:30AM to gun down Maintenance workers? And why?

The whole "The" thing is because of Monday Night Football, when all of the former Buckeyes would emphasize the "The" as a way of standing out from the felons from Florida and Miami.

I honestly don't remember anybody doing that when I went to OSU in the early '80s. Technically, however, the name of the school is "The Ohio State University".
