We're gonna miss you Scott!

Thanks for everything, Fujita, and good luck in Cleveland. You're gonna need it.

See you around, Scott...as stated above, good luck in Cleveland as you're going to need it.

2010-03-08 08:10:48 PM
Does this make him a "5" on the Fujita scale?

2010-03-08 10:59:06 PM
now that's class. Cool for him.

Dear Fuj-
You know your money will never be good in any bar or restaurant in this city... best of luck, you'll always be a champion to us. Thanks bro - gonna miss you at Rock-n-Sake!

Welcome to Cleveland, Scott. Don't worry, you get used to the smell after a while.

NFL Films had him wired for sound during the super bowl... seemed like a cool dude. Seemed genuinely thrilled to be there too.

I think it's gonna be a whole lot less of a struggle in Cleveland than many think. Especially with Fujita. I know that Holmgren wants to go more West Coast, but if Harrison stays, I think they have a more than adequate rushing attack (especially if Pashos can return from his shoulder injury). The big ? is whether Quinn can actually execute the pass half of the WC. The D, especially the secondary, is probably the main focus of the draft.

Fujita is a class act.

Fere is a great article about him as well.

The reasons why this is awesome:

1. That amount of money is no drop in the bucket for him.
2. He is leaving the town and the team.
3. To play for the Cleveland Browns.
4. He never got the Fujifilm endorsement deal he would've been a lock for in the 80's.

Feel free to add to this list.

Wasnt Fujita also fired from Nike because he taped over the logo for comfort and protection?

We'll miss him. As stated, completely class guy. We are officially lobbying for him to make nola his post-career home.

Should've sent some money to Houston and Atlanta.. to help with the crime infestation due to Katrina refugees.

Katrina 2 should wipe out the rest of the ghettos.

Living in cleveland, though not being a browns fan, Ive found that while no matter how horrendous the team has been, the linebacker corps of the browns have always been phenominal.

Good pickup.

Hi I'm Scott Fujuita and I'm Japanese.

I love me some Asian Assassin, but I think the Saints are dropping a few quality free agents (e.g. Fujita, Sharper) hoping that they can sign some others because of the no cap season and how it affects the last 8 teams in the playoffs. Their hands are tied unless they get some free agents to sign with other teams for decent contracts. They certainty wouldn't mind getting more athletic at linebacker or safety, but Fujita and Sharper are two of the smarter ones in the league. I'm not sure it's the right move, but I trust Mickey Loomis. At least they still have Vilma (who will be in Metairie signing dvd's in Barnes and Noble tommorow for any locals interested). My guess is that they have some people in the system already they like that no one knows. Hell, it seems like the whole team was either drafted in the 5-7th round, undrafted, or a free agent some other team didn't bother signing. Hopefully, they will do well in the draft.

2010-03-09 03:30:15 AM
I have to admit, I'm glad the Browns have signed Fujita and Seneca Wallace, but I'm a little more worried since Mike Holmgren seems to be signing everyone I fantasy drafted into the Browns on Madden.

Which only means one thing. From here on out, Holmgren will sign players with only hilarious/awesome last names.

If he found that wife of his in New Orleans, I think he and the city are now even.

MattyFridays: Wasnt Fujita also fired from Nike because he taped over the logo for comfort and protection?

Yes. Also might want to check out the Super Bowl diary if you get a chance.

It's always fun to root for teams with good guys on them. Gonna miss Fujita.

/also gotta keep repeating "New Orleans Saints, Super Bowl Champs"
//it's gonna sink in sometime :)

Excellent!!!! He is more than welcome here.

I am getting pretty excited about the Browns. We got rid of primadonna's like kellen and braylon and appear to be getting a lot of smart, talented players with good hearts and work ethics. I would even say I was hopefull except I have been a browns fan long enough to learn that pre season hopes are always crushed.

/OK, It's going to work this year.....

fatheifer: of course no one is talking about how this great guy went to a shiatty team just for more money

Looks like you are attempting to. Are we supposed to fault this guy for trying to make more money? Ummmm ok. If Kmart tried to lure you away from Walmart for a nickel more an hour, should we give you shiat over it?

2010-03-09 08:14:17 AM
Fatheifer: that's the reason it's ok. We are grownups here and we understand that he has a limited time to make as much money as possible. If I could make $2mil more doing the exact same thing in Cleveland, I'm gone in a heartbeat. Like I said before, we like him enough that we want him to come back after he retires, just because he's a cool guy.

A "classy" column Scott Fujita wrote for the campus newspaper back when he was still playing for Cal. (new window)

I have a vision of a Cal player grabbing somebody by the throat and squeezing until shiat runs down his leg.

I have a vision of a Cal "die-hard" taking down the Stanford tree at full speed. This is something I think everyone has envisioned at one time or another. Why doesn't somebody sack up and make it happen!?

But to be fair, that was almost a decade ago.

Or he could wait a couple of years and be traded for a draft pick.

It flows both ways.

How exactly is that a cheap shot? Would you feel better if he hit him helmet-to-helmet?

I can't speak for the other Skins fans around here, but I'm glad to see him go. Of course, I'm not sure how he's going to get back to Pittsburgh, since that would require him to actually go north rather than just east-west like he has for the last few years.

Subby is a poor sport who either roots for New Orleans and just doesn't know much about the NFL, or a Steeler fan who is an a-hole and/or butt-hurt that Big Ben just got caught AGAIN.

Good on ya, Scott. Welcome to Cleveland!

Go Browns!

AirForbes1: A "classy" column Scott Fujita

To be fair, I DNRTFC, but I'm guessing that was a pre-Big Game fire-em-up piece. Bet ya' didn't go to a big school with a big rivalry, did ya'?

My impression was that subby is neither. Fujita went from a team that just won the Super Bowl to a team that's been a joke recently. I have no investment in either of these teams and the way subby put seemed pretty evenhanded to me.

Anyway, the headline was more about the donation than the move. And that was a really nice thing for Fujita to do. Good people.

Maybe you're right. I retract my comment about New Orleans fans not knowing the NFL, but I stand by my assertion that Steelers fans are a-holes.

Holy crap, we got Fujita? Man, that's just awesome... and what an absolutely wonderful, fantastic way to close out his tenure with NOLA. Well done, sir, that's an amazing gesture.

/starting to get excited about 2010/11 for the Browns... maybe
