So, underwear's a requirement? Forget it, then.

2010-03-08 02:27:45 PM
Although to be fair, Bill Goldberg was a one-hit wonder freak who does not and never would have the staying power as a character and an icon that Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan have. Though since both of them are pushing 60, it's getting pretty pathetic.

Bill... can I call you "Bill?" Anyway, I really don't care if you return to wrestling or not. What I do care about, however, is that you get a film crew together. After this, you could begin immediate production on "Santa's Slay 2." It's early enough in the year that you could have it out by December.

If you could make that happen, I think the world would appreciate it.

I am (was) a big TNA fan. I am very nervous about where Hogan/Bischoff are taking the company and if they can compete with RAW.

I am surprised WWE didnt get Austin to host tonight's episode of RAW. They are having Undertaker come on but Chris Angel doesnt seem like enough of a draw to keep wrestling fans away from TNA for a little. I still think WWE will destroy them in the ratings but here is hoping.

Oh yeah, fark Goldberg (new window)

With a name like Goldberg I imagine that he has better money management skills than someone named Bollea or Fliehr

FTFA - "Pardon my French, but Hulk Hogan's full of crap because I was never in negotiations with TNA," Goldberg said.

When you say "pardon my French" you are suppose to say something they have to edit to keep things family friendly.

This is what Bischoff said:

"For what it is..yes. Allegedly WWE found out about a Lloyds of London (insurance) policy that Bret had in effect AFTER setting up this match, and as a result Lloyds of London has to approve of the physical structure of the match. Can't confirm this, and perhaps WWE has "bought out" the problem, but if not..could be disappointing. Either way, I am looking forward to it and am happy for Bret. Going back to WWE in any capacity was the right thing for him to do at this stage of his life."

Who knows if it is true but there you go.

Sting is no big deal, Hardy was already there a month ago on Monday night, and RVD may be there but TNA is going to go bananas and show all their cards in the first 5 minutes. Then the you'll change the channel when The Nasty Boys fight the Dudley Boys.

Wrestling has a history of using older guys to sell tickets.

Steamboat was in WM last year
Volkoff was in WWE in 2008

There's only one match TNA can offer that I want to see -- Sting vs Flair, allowing both men to retire at long last.

It can't JUST be the attorney. I mean, FFS Flair was offered something like 300k to do office work for WWE and couldn't afford to stay on. A lot of that is Flair's fault.

Damn, when did wrestling become "Days of our Lives"? Less talk, more fighting. I think if two wrestlers talk for more than two minutes before the match, Rowdy Roddy Piper would be allowed to cut it short by hitting each wrestler in the head with a coconut.

Somewhat of a current wrestling fan here...more or less to watch the trainwreck that is TNA, and to see if WWE is ever going to get what they had in the 90's back.

For my curiousity to compare things, a while back I downloaded 97-2000 and 96-2000 Raw is War and Nitro. And after watching a few months of each, I've came to a conclusion.

Theres just no transcendent guy in either promotion to bring it back to that kind of popularity.

TNA, whatever the hell they're doing, is crazy. They have so many young guys with awesome potential (joe, styles, pope) and they squander it by having storylines revolving around Hogan, Flair, Nasty Boys, etc. Some of the athletes on TNA would be absolutely fantastic if they would actually let them have matches that last more than 4 minutes.

And WWE, well Their older guys arent hogan and flair level old, but not guys to look at a 10 year plan around. Some of the things WWE does is nice, like this new NXT deal. Its interesting to me to see up and comer's getting into the business, and theres at least wrestling on smackdown. RAW is more or less pure storylines and not enough wrestling.

And until the business finds another Rock, another Steve Austin, Hell another hogan.. just someone with star power, then the whole thing will suffer. This is really apparent watching the 90's stuff, which is basically fresh to me at this point in my life. Those episodes of RAW and Nitro both had basically equal amounts of wrestling to go with storylines, and every show built on the last. Titles stayed with the same guy longer, making it more exciting when said guy lost. You also had main event guys who the general public were interested in, bringing in more fans.

Of course, it could be because i'm getting older, but the main thing I like about watching it all was always the wrestling part. Guys like benoit (pre-psycho) and dean malenko were genuinely entertaining wrestlers who put on fun matches to watch, which balanced the show in a way to make the endless NWO storyline stuff not as boring. Watching guys like Owen Hart and a young shawn michaels putting on both great matches and entertaining storylines kept the whole show interesting. And it was that way from my childhood (80's) through the late 90's, match wise.

/really outting myself as a smark here
//screw it, I don't know you people in real life
///I wore shoestrings around my arms and cut holes in the backs of my shirt when I was a kid because of wrestling

One thing that WCW did right is that all the girls in the fed were gorgeous and unique. I know the Nitro Girls were lame, but they all had a look that spoke to different demographics.

The WWE is way too blonde and generic now. Vince Russo had a knack for knockers.

TNA has a great women's division. I was sad to see Gail Kim switch sides and Kong get axed.
