(People Magazine)   The battle for the little gold men finally hits the stage. "Avatar" or "The Hurt Locker"? Cameron or Bigelow? Bullock or Streep? We'd ask more, but that's about all the drama for your 2010 Oscars discussion   (peoplestylewatch.com) divider line 1839

Mike Honcho: No, you're the one who destroyed everything, Ripley. That was the aliens' house, you biatch!

No, she said the first Alien movie.

AdmirableSnackbar: EvilToni: DamnYankees: Well, the apocalypse is officially night. Mo'nique has won an Oscar.

That's not as bad as "Acadamy Award winner Eminem"

Actually, it's much, much worse. Eminem at one point had actual, tangible talent.

What about 3-6 mafia or whatever the hell they're called?

DamnYankees: Isn't it usual that you don't announce the award for a category if you're in one of the movies? I thought that was the rule.

Best pic for "Chicago" was announced by people involved in the movie or at least related to them.

NetOwl: Q: How do you make the Oscars more annoying?

A: Sit in a cafe near a very loud fat lady who cheers every time Precious is mentioned.

Oh, and the loud fat lady keeps yelling about how she "didn't understand" Avatar.

I'm still not going to root for Avatar to win anything, but...

picodenico: dumbandilikeit: Maggie Glydhgoqwithall is going to end up as the Helen Mirren of our time. She's great in every film she's in.

I need to see more of her movies. She is awesome, indeed.

/and hot

I'd recommend 'Sherry Baby' Not only is she phenomenal in it, but she shows her boobies. (I'm a straight chick and all, but I gotta give mad 'Great Boobies' props when they are due.)

DAMMIT! Inches from a Sigourney dress rip!

Was that Kathy Bates looking pissed?

Kathy Bates is looking a lot like Paula Deen...

Sepinwall makes a good observation:

The WB and UPN are now tied - each has 1 actor move from anchoring a show on their network in a shiatty sitcom to winning an acting Oscar. What were the odds?

Keanu so didn't get that joke.

I stand corrected. However, she did blow up the ship. The alien was just trying to make friends.

Didn't Jack Nicholson present best picture to The Departed? I remember thinking it was strange at the time.

tudorgurl: Cornelius Dribble: tudorgurl: Cornelius Dribble: The second most overrated movie wins its first Oscar--Precious.

And the speech is just as maudlin as the film.

Dude, shut the fark up. Seriously.

Okay, then, I won't say anything about Mo'Nique.

Thank you. :o) The Oscars are all about the maudlin speeches. Why piss on them? It's not like any of us will ever get the chance to speak our hearts to the world for 45 seconds.

/don't think I haven't dreamed it

Must say I posted that before he apologized for being at a loss for words--that was a nice touch of reality, especially coming from a writer, a proper reminder that there is a huge difference between writing and talking.

Ok seriously someone in the production staff at the Oscars must be farker to have written that joke in about horses.

WTF is up with SJP's dress? I don't like the chest buckle.

Period pieces ALWAYS win for wardrobe. 'Fifth Element' was robbed as a result.

Sandy Powell should just sell this one on eBay.

Damn it, I was hoping for The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus to win Costume Design. That unjustly ignored movie should have done the business Alice in Wonderland did last weekend.
