When you get next to one another
Is everybody needs some elbow room, elbow room.

It's nice when you're kinda cozy, but
Not when you're tangled nose to nosey, oh,
Everybody needs some elbow, needs a little elbow room.

Azer Gasimov, the president's spokesman, declined to discuss the Dubai real estate purchases. "I have no comment on anything. I am stopping this talk. Goodbye," he said when contacted by telephone and told about the names on the property records. Gasimov did not respond to requests for further comment sent by fax, e-mail and cellphone text message.

Forrealz? I LOL'D!!

From the article

"Azerbaijan has sent troops to support U.S. democracy-building efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq but at home has retreated steadily from democratic practices, according to diplomats and experts on the region. Transparency International, in a 2009 survey of global corruption, ranked Azerbaijan among the worst at 143 out of 180 nations."

Why does Transparency International hate freedom?

That kid is so lucky he isn't in the US where the evil government would try and tax away his hard earned wealth.

If only there were a form of government where the wealth of
a nation is distributed equitably to its citizens based on their need..

Ali Kerimli, chairman of the Azerbaijani Popular Front, an opposition party

...which isn't to be confused with the Popular Front of Azerbaijan...

Hmm. Sheldonsoft must be doing well... ;)
2010-03-06 11:19:54 PM
Sounds vaguely familiar; $228K a year, but owns several multi-million dollar homes. I'm pretty sure you could say the exact same thing about every current Senator, most members of Congress, Presidential cabinet members and even Supreme Court justices. And our government officials don't even attempt to put it in their kid's names.
2010-03-06 11:35:12 PM
FTFA... roughly 10,000 years' worth of salary for the average citizen of Azerbaijan.

I lolled

Okay, I can understand wanting to blow the money daddy embezzeled from your nation. I can understand wanting to do it at a big money resort town.

But nine? I would much prefer one or two really, really nice ones. Not necessarily big houses, but all the details perfect, huge grounds, and underground lairs and shiat like that. Upgrade them from "mansion" to "palace" and have fewer of them.

I mean really. US bank executives have yachts that cost more than all nine of his mansions. Spend on quality over quantity kid.

sounds like another place is begging for us to bring a little freedom and democracy to it.
2010-03-07 11:39:57 AM
I would presume his father was behind the real estate purchases and tried to hide them in his son's name through some elite "accounting".

Was his name JR?
