i'm going to update the page now so ppl will have some idea of what the heck the headline refers to.

2003-04-23 03:29:19 PM
Naw, I think a hanging chad is much simpler to understand.

2003-04-23 03:29:22 PM
Wow, a prism link on Fark. This is probably the highlight of Georgia Tech's long history.

2003-04-23 03:29:42 PM
Horray for Bertha!

2003-04-23 03:31:21 PM
Just checking the totals:

Bertha Clemmons - 566
Jaclyn Joyner-Smith - 382

2003-04-23 03:32:12 PM
Most recent numbers below.

Everyone keep in mind what we are battling for here. This lady was raised during the great depression, suffered through the deprivations of WWII, with rationing and everything else that came with it, lived all those years and still managed to chose a rather tasteful hat for her photograph. She deserves to have the red carpet rolled out for her.

Poll Results

60.63% Bertha Clemmons -

596
39.37% Jaclyn Risden-Smith -

387
983 votes cast.

2003-04-23 03:34:41 PM
Go Bertha!

btw.....what's the deal with that ugly-ass flower hat Jaclyn Risden-Smith is wearing? Fugly, indeed.

2003-04-23 03:35:12 PM
GOOOOO BERTHAAAAAAAAAAA

2003-04-23 03:35:27 PM
Bertha on why the paper should send her to the Derby:

"I am 85 years old, never been to a Derby. I'd like to go in style. I have been a subscriber [for] about 45 years. Now it's payback time."

Fark her. She already used that story to get George Costanza's condo from him. And anyways, she had a pony as a girl.

nice work to everyone involved in getting the admins to accept this. special props to cardina16. Now, before it starts, everyone be nice to the competition - this is about granny, not jaclyn. or jaclyn's hat.

2003-04-23 03:36:22 PM
If Jaclyn is 24 then I'm friggin ancient! That is one fugly 24 year old!

2003-04-23 03:38:56 PM

WTF!! you cannot tell me that this is a fair and balanced vote.

2003-04-23 03:39:50 PM

2003-04-23 03:40:37 PM
Magpav Indeed! The years have not been kind to Jaclyn, or her "My Pretty Pony" hat. She needs to start moisturizing PRONTO!!

BanannaRama: whens the last time you saw a fark backed vote stay under 1000 votes?

2003-04-23 03:44:33 PM
I know the vote rigging screams for the 'florida' tag, but I propose another appropriate tag:

2003-04-23 03:46:04 PM
Cardina16:

this is super retarded. first, if fark gets on a vote, you can refresh, and watch the farking #'s count up. second, in any contest i have ever seen, as the contest keeps going, less votes get cast. and ugly woman takes her big jump right at the end of the farking contest? bull shiat.

2003-04-23 03:48:47 PM
604-389 now

2003-04-23 03:49:24 PM
Oh yeah ... now THAT'S what I'm talking about!

Poll Results

60.94% Bertha Clemmons -

607
39.06% Jaclyn Risden-Smith -

389
996 votes cast.

BanannaRama
that's precisely why we're trying to call them on it. if everyone who voted only got counted once, it should still be like 10,000 to 350 or something. very fishy, and we won't let that damn newspaper cheat granny bertha out of her dream.

2003-04-23 03:50:21 PM
609(grandma) 389(Old lady who says she's a lot younger than she is and is wearing a realllllly ugly hat)

2003-04-23 03:50:28 PM
BanannaRama: wait i think we are both saying the same thing....

2003-04-23 03:52:32 PM
so obviously rigged that it's just sad

2003-04-23 03:52:41 PM
no idea what this is about, had 5 minutes, voted, alls I know is i'll be drinking on a stoop in the Bronx when the horseys are a running.

593-385

2003-04-23 03:54:07 PM
Siyuntz:

another thing is, of all the fark polls i have ever seen, this is the one that has the most support and attention behind it. even though the voting is a little bit more difficult, it should have just as many votes, if not more. Im sorry, but fark should have at least 80% of any vote, not farking 60%. in the forbes thread, one of the other blogs got over 1000 votes, there were 4 contestents, and fark (none of the above) still got to 80%. this one the competition has less then 400? it makes no sense

2003-04-23 03:55:26 PM
Cardina16:

oh, I thought you knew that. we agree. 100%.

2003-04-23 03:55:49 PM
i was vote #999, w00t!!!

go bertha.

i hope hertha wins the derby, who's her jockey again?

2003-04-23 03:55:58 PM
Bertha - 597
The other one - 387

3:53 pm

Your Granny is too cute and she will win!

2003-04-23 03:56:38 PM
Bullshiat. No freaking way.

Note that in the original vote where there were more than 2 contestants, Bertha already won.

When they run the derby do they take the two top horses and make them run again against each other alone? No? Why is that?

2003-04-23 03:57:17 PM
bertha, rather, bertha wins the derby.

i only have 2.67 fingers on my right hand. can you guess which ones?

2003-04-23 03:57:20 PM
BanannaRama no. no sense at all. all we can think of is there's some sort of dark evil conspiracy (a la x-files or something) trying to keep granny bertha out of the derby. truly a sad day indeed.

2003-04-23 03:58:11 PM
No way that woman is 24. If she is that's the oldest looking 24 yr old I've ever seen.

2003-04-23 04:00:29 PM
Maybe Fark needs a KENTUCKY Topic. Unfortunatly I'm to damn lazy to make one.

2003-04-23 04:01:22 PM
what's the direct link to the voting again?

2003-04-23 04:01:23 PM
I have a question about that graph. why does the bar go down? it shouldnt do anything but go up.

2003-04-23 04:02:57 PM
The Fark effect. Granny increasing her lead:

Poll Results

61.25% Bertha Clemmons -

615
38.75% Jaclyn Risden-Smith -

389
1004 votes cast.

2003-04-23 04:07:04 PM
I noticed that they switched the two names around so Bertha is the top choice. Makes you wonder if someone was running a voting script.

2003-04-23 04:07:29 PM
i'd rather see old win than fat.

2003-04-23 04:07:33 PM
href="http://www.kentucky.com/mld/templates/contentModules/poll-results-popup. jsp?siteSurveyKey=5684313">the voting results

2003-04-23 04:07:42 PM
fark couldn't even get grannies votes to increase as fast as jacklyn's went up. that's just wrong.
