this is 100% true, my wife is a public school teacher the last parent/teacher meeting the school had no parents from her class showed up and last night she had to call a parent about their kid being late the kicker: the kid is late because the father takes him to McDonalds before school everyday. She knows this because the mother (who is in the army) told her. She has one kid who picks fights as often as possible, has been kicked of the school bus and when suspended the mother wants to know why her kid is being singled out.

AMEN to that, bruthas and sistas! Its tough for me as a non-child-laden married man to hear an eight year old brat in the mall tell another kid or adult to "fvck-off", or worse. Gawd, I just want to smack the shiite out of them...

2003-04-23 10:46:19 AM
And if we could only shovel more money into the NEA-hole, everything would get better.

Think of the children!

"This is a true reflection of how the public feels," said Shirley Igo, president of National Parent Teacher Association. "It says that our young people are looking for positive role models out there."

Well, they're farked.....

I remember the belt, switch, paddle, wooden spoon, ruler, shoe, bare hand and all mightiest of all, "wait until your father gets home." Sadly, if you even yell at your kid wrong in public someone calls the cops and social services.

On the other hand, I have a friend who works for social service. Man the stories she tells me are terrifying. Of course, those are the extreme ones. Obviously being and adult you should exert self control.

To round this out, my mother is a school teacher also. She teaches first grade. She had a knife pulled on her by one of her students and the father yelled at her for calling him. For show and tell three girls told her they wantd to dance to their favorire song... the thong song. About ten seconds into it after these 6 year olds were gyrating in front of the class the iron fist came down.

what was I saying again?
/is pointless

Gawd, I just want to smack the shiite out of them...

I always want to calmly and patiently point out that their actions may be affecting those around them, and selfishness like that rarely pays off in the long run.

With a big stick.

The youth of today are a generation of asshats.

Excellent point.

They should bring that the paddle.

"Looking at my shoes - that's a paddlin'. Whisperin' - that's a paddlin'. Lookin' out the window - you better believe that's a paddlin'..."

This is the main reason why I think more kids should have been sent to the baby oil factory for processing.

Kids today are lucky, when I was in school they would punish rudeness by hitting you repeatedly in the groin with a baseball bat.

2003-04-23 10:48:09 AM
bah.. the low-income and inner-city schools are skewing the results. my public h.s. was fine when I was there, and was fine 2 years ago when my brother graduated.

on another note.. Sven</

No way. We can't blame the parents. Blame video games or better yet blame Syria!

There is no way my parents would've tolerated any of the crap I see and hear kids pulling today!

2003-04-23 10:48:37 AM
What ever happened to wanting to raise your kids right?

2003-04-23 10:48:40 AM
Kids are annoying. Dumb kids are even worse. This trend disturbs me greatly@

2003-04-23 10:48:44 AM
I'm with you RelaximusPrime!! As a result of modern day behavior exhibited by these monsters, I feel that kids and their parents need to be shot.

A kid (maybe 10 yrs old) where I lived crashed his bicycle into my car (it just came back from the body shop THAT DAY) and dented it. We went and got his father, and when we were walking to my car, I nicely asked the kid to not ride his bike on the grass. The kid told me to fvck off in front of his father!! The father didn't do jack shiat.

Kids today do not fear adults - If the above had happened to me, I'd probably get an ass-whoopin... Hell, before my dad died, he would always give me the hairy eyeball if I even used shiat. AND I WAS 35 YEARS OLD!!!

2003-04-23 10:48:47 AM
Beat the shiats. I'm a highschool farker. I'm sick off all the kids who do stupid shiat then get away with it because they say "its my adhd/add". No, its just because you're a lazy asshat who just farks around.

i hate this laptop.

sven very nice ;)

Public schools out of control? Thats un-possible.

Correct that shiat, Sven

A-men! My dad is about to wrap up year 40 in the New York State school system. He remembers a time when if you punished a kid, they'd go home and receive additional punishment. Now I think you just get sued. Not to mention a starting salary that only a Starbucks employee could envy.

I am the youth of today, im not an asshat!

I drink alot, steal things (of non Monetary value), shoot people with water guns from my car, and I'm still going to college this summer!!

See, although I do partake in asshat activities, i get my school shaz done and manage an B average without much effort. so there!

I think public schools are failing because they can't produce graduates that know how to differentiate between 'to' and 'too'.

You had it easy....

2003-04-23 10:52:40 AM
Maybe the parents are so lazy and the kids so rude because asshat teachers are still having them build dioramas in high school?

2003-04-23 10:53:09 AM
hmm...are these the same farkers who are always joking "Won't someone please think of the children?" whenever there's an article with someone trying to instill morals into them.

2003-04-23 10:53:16 AM
"There is a lack of knowledge on the part of parents about how to be effectively involved in the school,"

Most parents are oblivious to what their children do at school. School is their "babysitter".

2003-04-23 10:53:30 AM
Public schools suck. Either you go to a rich kid school (I went to one of these in St. Louis) or you go to horrible, falling apart, drug infested, and worthless school.

So far the best schools I have seen are private (and oddly enough usually Catholic) and hold HIGH standards to their students.

On that note why did they even bother with universities? I mean only the kids that really want an education will continue on...the problem children (about 60% of the kids in HS IMHO) will never go to college and will never even think about being a college grad (not that having a degree means anything anymore)

Sven_burger
he said his WIFE is the teacher, not him....give him a break on the grammer, he is obviously the product of public schools, BUT HE DID WELL ON HIS STANDARDIZED TEST I'M SURE!!!

Before the flame wars begin, I am the product of public schools, and my kids go to public schools. The teachers are the most important part, but it is the parents that make or break the situation. I just pulled my kids from a school district in an area with a huge drug problem, and the wonderful parenting that comes with that, and put them in a school district in an area without that problem.....the difference is night and day in the behavior of the students, their performance, and the morale of the teachers.

American culture is going to shiat. I don't even want to think of what it will be like 10-20 years from now. I mean christ, Monica Lewinsky and OJ get their own TV shows as a reward for doing immoral things? What kind of message is that giving kids?

2003-04-23 10:53:48 AM
Well that and people are so hung up on our public schools "failing" that they never vote to pass a freakin budget.... They need that extra money for more building more friggin condos next to the interstate, thus raising admissions....

Idiots....

Clickman: I wanted to do MORE than run his bike over, but I would have ended up in jail.

Some of my friends kids are out of control... One of my girlfriends sent her kid to a $30k/yr boarding school to see if she would improve. After 1-1/2 yrs at the school she wanted to come home and basically told her mother that if she wasn't withdrawn she would do whatever it would take to get thrown out. Little does she know that when I call her Brat (pet nikname) that I really mean it!

I read "nude" in the headline. That was a confusing couple of seconds.

I don't know about the schools but I regularly have kids shout obscenities at me.. Maybe that was common 20 years ago too but I really don't need to have a 3rd grader tell me he wants to fark my tits. Gag :/

2003-04-23 10:55:09 AM
The kids today are little brats.

2003-04-23 10:55:33 AM
On a somewhat related note, where were all of these smokin' hot little whores when I was in H.S.? Has anyone noticed this besides myself and my sick friends?

Make people pay directly for their kids' educations and you'll see an immediate change in their attitude about the quality of the schools.

Even vouchers would be an improvement over the present system.

In case you haven't noticed--people don't value what they get for free.

2003-04-23 10:56:29 AM
Kids today have nothing to fear.

2003-04-23 10:56:32 AM
Pugsleythegreat....

Then don't be offended if I catch up to you at a stoplight, pull you out of your car and shove that squirtgun right up your ass.

2003-04-23 10:56:33 AM
That can't be entirely true, but preach on, brother man.

2003-04-23 10:56:51 AM
I'm scared to bring children into this world.

2003-04-23 10:56:57 AM
Maybe...just MAYBE....if we started focusing on actually TEACHING children, instead of just drilling them for standardized testing, we'd have better yound people. The main reason myself and others were terrors in HS (6 yrs ago) was because we weren't learning shiat and we knew it. The only thing politicians care about is showing that such and such school scored higher or lower, even though there are multiple ways to cheat testing.
Although, I have to agree that shiatty parenting does contribute A LOT to children's attitudes.

2003-04-23 10:57:06 AM
"And if we could only shovel more money into the NEA-hole, everything would get better."

So Cosmo, is your answer the typical Republican hype to cut taxes, continuously reduce funding to public schools, and drive free education for all children into the history books? You've been listening to Rush way too much, dude.

2003-04-23 10:57:13 AM
That's kind of the point, Pugsleythegreat. You're not trying, you're an asshat, and still the school system lets you breeze by with a "B" average.

2003-04-23 10:57:44 AM
I can honestly say that I would have been a more productive member of society had I been BEATEN more thoroughly and more often. My parents were far too permissive when I was a child and, trust me on this one. I am an anti-social, unemployed, angry, sysadmin...
The litigious and NIMBY culture that America has fostered seems to beg for exactly this kind of attitude in our youth (and in our young parents). Send your money to Sally Struthers and keep slurping down those Big-Macs kidd0, because the millions of impoverished and malnourished will have their day.

No shiat! I won't even make a comment about my neighbors daughters. Damn... I just did.

2003-04-23 10:58:29 AM
LordVger: I think that is a big part of the problem. I wasn't challenged at all in high school...and because I wasn't a rich kid, I was pretty much put at the bottom of the pile..

Pugsleythegreat: What college are you going to? It sounds like you are doing normal high school kid stuff (I did about the same...and some worse...) And not to put you down or anything, but it isn't hard to hold a B average in a public school....
