Huzzah! The 2010 St.Patty's Day Fark Pub Crawl is upon us! Things start at 1pm, March 13th, 2010. Here's the planned schedule:

Facebook event page

1 pm The Field (start drinking)
2 pm Tavern in the Square (begin conversation about YoGabaGaba)
3 pm Plough & Stars (start walking funny)
4 pm People's Republic (start seeing double)
5 pm The Cellar (start taking pictures on other people's cell phones)
6 pm Grafton Street (finish conversation about YoGabbaGabba - conclude that DJ Lance's power derives from fur hat/cold fusion)
7 pm Hong Kong (get my scorpion bowl on)
8 pm John Harvard's (hit on a juke box, start crying when it turns me down with "Back Off Biatch" by Guns N Roses)
9 pm Grendal's Den (stare in confusion at unisex bathrooms, puke in hallway)
10 pm Tommy Doyle's (angry rant about the Smithwicks-themed mirrors, but not actually serving Smithwicks)
11 pm Charlie's Kitchen (Irish carbombs)

Note: For updates on our current location, text FARK to 30364..You'll receive a text of where we are and when we move on to the next bar in case we go off schedule or otherwise, or if you want to join us late.

We hope to see everyone there.

Apparently Facebook event links don't work on Fark. Friend me on FB if you're interested in going and want the link. Make sure to specify your Fark username.

I'll be there! Perhaps providing a drunken "I'm still bitter about cancelled trivia" rant at John Harvard's.

I will be there

I'll be there with a ridiculous hat on.

Starting at The Field? Oh man, I don't know if I can come up with a plausible excuse for not going to a Fark party that's five blocks from my place.

2010-03-04 09:51:00 AM
I promise nothing, but I'll try to show up at some point. Like Edsel put it, hard to find an excuse NOT to go drinkning in Central/Harvard Sq. And, for what it's worth, I actually used to work at Grafton! (and Fire and Ice, and the Border Cafe, and Noir, and Redline, and....)

2010-03-04 09:53:27 AM
I think I can book a flight over there, but mostly because I have cousins that have been constantly nagging that I go visit.

But, this is all pretty dependent of my economy (aka My-Car-that-some-asshole-put-sugar-in-the-gas-tank).

2010-03-04 09:56:25 AM
I'm gonna be down at Kelly's Roast Beef.

2010-03-04 10:01:08 AM
March 13th for a St Paddy's Day pub crawl?

I would try to be there, but after the November 18th Christmas pub crawl, I still need recovery time...

/Weekends are only a state of mind...

2010-03-04 10:05:03 AM
Good list of bars. Me likey. I'll have to see if I can work this out somehow.

As drunk as you may be, DO NOT EAT at the Hong Kong. That is all.

Is there a fark crawl in new york?

hmmm... just moved to boston, haven't had a chance to explore many of the bars around town...

i might just have to change my plans this weekend. we'll see.

2010-03-04 10:20:36 AM
I and 34 of our Mardi Gras krewe members from Lake Charles will be doing the same thing that day on Bourbon St. and watching the Irish Channel Parade in N'awlins. Got my green afro and special green tenner shoes ready to go!

2010-03-04 10:21:43 AM
I'm sorry, but that is not a hair question.

But I think I'll join in this time. Farkettes who can kick your ass at darts are allowed, yes?

my first night of work there, which was something like 4 yrs ago, there was a fist fight outside on the sidewalk over the $1 teriyaki.

Man, I wish I still lived in Boston. Those are some of my favorite bars in Cambridge. I'm surprised that the Cantab didn't make the list. You always need a real dive in the mix.

2010-03-04 10:25:21 AM
I'll be there.

Drunks and sharp throwy things are a bad idea.

2010-03-04 10:26:31 AM
How do you have a Boston pub crawl where none of the bars are in Boston?

2010-03-04 10:26:48 AM
The Hong Kong was on fire Christmas Eve; has it re-opened already?

We start at the Field. I think the Field might actually have dirt floors.

I've convinced The Boy to come. He's afraid of Internet People, so please don't do anything to convince him you're all freaks.

FlyingPig: Huzzah! The 2010 St.Patty's Day

Everyone's Irish on St.Paddy's Day.

Except you.

Patty is a girl's name. St. Patricia's Day is in August. Now fark off.

2010-03-04 10:43:40 AM
I'm quite happy to say that Howie Carr and his hapless minions have not yet succeeded in banning Evacuation Day as a state-employees' holiday (actually, Suffolk County only) so I am looking forward to spending the day with other thirsty Farkers.

It'll be a good experiment to see which event gets me drunker: A St. Patty's Day pub crawl, or the other Suffolk County holiday, June 17th (Bunker Hill day) when I'll be tailgating all day at the Buffett concert in Mansfield. My bets are on Buffett. You can hate the music if you want, but those guys are professional tailgaters. NFL fans are amateurs in comparison.

2010-03-04 10:46:03 AM
what_now: We start at the Field. I think the Field might actually have dirt floors.

The Field isn't that bad. It's got nothing on pre-renovation O'Briens in Allston. That was a genuine dive with disgusting bathrooms and $1.50 PBR's.

What's great about The Field is that they don't screw around with 'bar time' and will serve you until closing, not until 30 min's before.

2010-03-04 10:46:11 AM
Oh: March 13th. I can still make it. I get off work at 9 AM. That gives me 3 hours to get pre-inebriated. Wicked awesome!

Anyone who wants to do it again on the actual St. Patty's Day will have willing company here.

confewshus: The Hong Kong was on fire Christmas Eve; has it re-opened already?

Yeah, that was my question as well. Anybody? Bueller?

2010-03-04 10:50:24 AM
damn it... This actually looks like it will be fun. I'll have to see if I can get a baby sitter.

....and because it has to be posted by me on any Boston related thread:

web.mit.edu

And to pick nits, this is all a list of CAMBRIDGE pubs. Good pubs, mind you, and the Field pours some of the best pints in New England (the owner, Jerry, is a GOD). Cambridge is not Boston.

This Is Bold Text: Facebook event page

I would do the FB thing but that would give away my actual identity. So if you're tracking attendance with FB, just add one for me.

I hope there are still phone booths on Mass Ave, I might need to change quickly and answer a distress call...

O'Briens.

heh. I spent a NYE there in college once. I think I was 19,20, something like that. They didn't ask.

For true divy goodness, nothing beats Sligo in Davis square.

Whoops, my bad, didn't realize it was the Hong Kong in Cambridge. I need more coffee...

I've actually found Boston to be a pretty accepting place. That said, if they get all up on my case then at least I know Fark has my back!

/Looking forward to this
//It will be my first fark party

I don't have facebook, but count me in!

/why, on a Boston pub crawl, are these bars in Cambridge? There are plenty of perfectly good bars in Boston.
//assuming Hong Kong is not the Fenway Howard Johnson location? Too bad, because that's right around the corner me..

Jerry used to own the Brendan Behan in JP, which is truly the best pub in Boston. Flann O'Brien's is also worth a stop, as well as the James's Gate and The Alchemist.

The past 3 years people have whined that we never do any bars in Cambridge.

You'll get over it.

Howsabout the Druid on Cambridge Street in Inman? Perhaps I'll add that to the walk home...

Dammit, I scheduled a trip that weekend...curse my lack of beer precognition!
