What about "All you base" sites???

2001-09-27 12:19:38 AM
Hmm, mind controlling terrorists. I think we really have to worry about those.

2001-09-27 12:24:43 AM
Be on the look out for sneaky lego cell terrorists

2001-09-27 12:43:44 AM
oh well, legos have turned to crap any way. anyone remember the good ol' days when there were two lego faces? guy and girl?

2001-09-27 01:01:09 AM
LEGO peaked in 1980 with the Expert Builder Set, mainly the auto chassis with working U-joints, rack and pinion steering, pistons that moved up and down, and a transmission and crown gear rear axle... Even the seats adjusted like a real car...

Thae went down hill from there... the specialized parts take away from imagination... I'm lost trying to play with my stepson's LEGOs.

2001-09-27 01:02:57 AM
"They", rather... (Yeah, a preview feature would be cool...)

2001-09-27 01:12:55 AM
FRKBOY: I cant believe you said Legos and crap in the the same sentence. Have you seen the new Bionicle theme(www.bionicle.com)? They're the coolest thing Lego has done yet. Legos have been and will always be the best.

this farking PC world we live in....

what a pile of shiat we have become.........

2001-09-27 01:20:40 AM
For the record, I was going to post something satirical about all of the other Lego themes that were pulled from the shelves. And then I realized that most people don't share my morbid sense of humor and love of bad taste, so my post would have been removed in about five minutes. Basically, I wasted my time writing the damn thing. On the other hand, after rereading it, the execution of the bit didn't come close to living up to the concept of it. Also, I'm patently aware that I'm wasting my time writing a post about a post that I wrote but didn't post. AND, furthermore, I'm only wasting the time of anyone who is reading this post about a post that I wrote but didn't post. I am deeply, deeply sorry.

Look at your average Legoman face and TELL ME that the evil mind control devices have not yet taken effect!

Yes, I said Legoman. Having grown up in the time when there were just two faces, and they were all called "Legomen," I refuse to bow to the PC regime. Happy flaming!

And that 1 consumer lives in South Carolina. Someone get me out of this farking state.

2001-09-27 01:56:14 AM
Wow, Didn't realize the Dane were that spineless...

2001-09-27 02:40:16 AM
It's getting to the point that no one can refer to terrorists, skyscrapers, New York, peace, war, pilots and planes or anyhting without someone thinking it might cause someone somewhere to possibly have their lives reminded to them. My father died three years ago but there has been no removal of references to fathers, heart attacks, or poor eating habits. Are people really offended or just reacting to a reference?

Great, so now they just delete posts. Fuck off moderators.

2001-09-27 04:45:22 AM
Whoah... when did they introduce a 2nd Lego face? I only remember smiling astronaut and headless-astronaut-with-a-square-block-for-a-head-and-called-a-robot.

2001-09-27 06:58:15 AM
Hmmm, yet the Lego concentration camp set is still available...

Fusillade: That picture of the Borg teletubbies rocks.

2001-09-27 07:54:51 AM
And my closure of tags...uh...doesn't.

2001-09-27 08:04:57 AM
Driller Killer: I, too, remember the single human lego face on the astronauts. I never had the square-headed robot though.

I agree that the legos of the past left more to the imagination than the current sets. Bionicle looks cool and all, but how many ways can you put those together? maybe 4. I'd love to get my hands on a few more of the old technics sets from about 1982-83.

2001-09-27 08:16:07 AM
The normal blocks are still available but most kids want the ones for prefabricated outburts of imagination. When I was visiting my friends at Christmas I noticed their son and daughter had a HUGE bucket of plain blocks. They said they never played with them. I did though, I made a couple guns, a castle and other things. Pretty soon they were both happily inventing away with them.

2001-09-27 08:17:08 AM
I'm sorry, but I'm confused? I never remember my lego sets coming with a 70+ page instruction manual. Since when did this start happening?

2001-09-27 08:24:06 AM
Instead of sitting kids in front of Legos, blocks or something that makes the kid use his/her brain, parents shove their kid in front of a TV. 20 years ago 50 lego pieces could build anything. Today it is 1000 pieces every piece must be perfect and you need instructions to use it. Wow.

Can we vote South Carolina back out of the Union?

"This can be understood as weapons and considering what happened on Sept. 11, that is totally unacceptable," Lego spokeswoman Eva Lykkegaard said. "This is absolutely not in line with our values."

Enormous obvious weapons, however are just fine.

Lego designer would just about have to be the coolest job ever. My son and I spent a whole summer turning all of his kits into giant robots. One of the coolest was a jet that transformed into a robot, but the police bot was probably my favorite.

Now, of course, the Mission to Mars series actually has giant robots. Sweet.

I agree. The new Legos (yeah, at 22 I still buy em) contain too many large pieces. It used to be you would buy a space station and have to build a wall piece by piece - now you get one "wall piece" or for those robot thingies instead of building arms and legs you get "arm piece" and "leg piece". It takes the fun out of it - because you can't use these pieces anywhere else except to build something with legs or arms or walls.

I do like the new colors they have, though. I don't like the different faces. It was more fun when you had them all look the same, because you could switch all the bodies and it was okay. Now, you got aliens whose heads just don't look right on a policeman.

I personally have a fully boxed, and complete, example of all of the Lego Technics Cars done from the introduction of the large (about 24") red car chassisnthrough to the most recent.

And, yes, I do agree that the standard has fallen!

2001-09-27 09:12:40 AM
Ubermonkey: thanks. Resistanz is footil.

2001-09-27 09:47:02 AM
"This is absolutely not in line with our values." I love to hear that. Who is the "we" she is refering to? And what values is it conflicting with? I see a simple good vs evil theme. Same theme on every cartoon, action-movie, and sci-fi/fantasy book, to name just a few. I don't see the problem. Its not much different than having the cold war propaganda teach kids that the Russians personified evil.

As far as Legos go, I only remember the one guy whose head you could put different hats on. I stuck to the space stuff and the really early castles(when they were yellow).

2001-09-27 09:49:21 AM
Oh yeah, same theme as in the Bible, and many other religious texts. Only this is a more real world personification of evil.

2001-09-27 10:22:16 AM
My favorite was a ship and helicopter set I had. I can't remeber what piece it was but if you stuck it on the guy instead of his head it sort of made him look like a werewolf hehe.

2001-09-27 10:36:46 AM
next they will have barbie in a long veil

2001-09-27 10:39:35 AM
Let go of my Lego

It sucks!!! I guess we have to expect now that anything with a possible innuendo that could in some cosmic farfetched way be related to the attack, will be banished. fark this pisses me off. People have no eye for what the real issues are...idiots. I want a diecast toy gun without an orange tip!! I want toys I can choke on!! I want cartoons that are obnoxious with lots of gunfights!! I want video games with no rating system!! I am 25 and saying this...hehe I should probably grow up.

Alpha Team box No. 6775 includes small figures -- secret agents with "superhero powers and specialized gizmo," according to Lego. Their mission is to free team members captured by Ogel. (We have GOT to get these guys on the CIA payroll!)

2001-09-27 11:54:06 AM
Heh, speaking of being able to build anything, anyone remember the Thundercats? Remember that vehicle they road around in? I actually built something resembling that, when legos where still lots of tiny parts, and you used 500000000000000 of them to make something. I wouldn't even dream of tying that with the new parts.

Hell the only thing that Lego has going for it right now, I think, are the mindstorms, and I'm not sure how well those work.

2001-09-27 11:58:48 AM
LEAVE MY LEGOS ALONE COMMIES!!! Thanks. I feel better now.

2001-09-27 12:00:12 PM

PC + LEGOs + Robots = lego mindstorms

2001-09-27 12:42:15 PM
Hmmm they have a concentration camp set and weaponry, but aren't allowed to have people with a certain (legitamite) job role.

2001-09-27 01:03:44 PM
Ever notice how much the Legoman hair looks like a turban?

Ever notice how much a turban resembles a turbine?

Ever wonder where they got the idea for the turbine? And the name?

Draw your own conclusions.

Hey you dumbfarks:
It's LEGO, not LEGOS. Don't piss off the Danes. I remember back in about 1979 or so reading in one of my LEGO activity books that they would like people to NOT refer their product as 'LEGOS' but rather 'LEGO'. Please pass this along.

2001-09-27 03:14:10 PM
Leopold, what's with the hostility?

So they asked nicely not to have people call them Legos, so what? Why not piss off the danes. Fark the danes!
LEGOS
LEGOS
LEGOS

Last I heard they were only good for two things, Legos and cheese danishes, and I'm not even sure if those were created by the danes. Bah!

Great, now I'm even more ashamed about being from South Carolina. I absolutely loved Legos as a kid, and still wouldn't mind getting a set or two. About that mind control thing--yeah, Osama bin Laden was really trying to take over our minds by destroying the WTC. We all know that the WTC contained the anti-mind control generator for the Eastern Seaboard. Good thing we had a backup generator in Camp David, or else we might really be in trouble.

Seriously, Legos are for kids. This is some overreacting parent freaking out about anything remotely subversive. Legos are built for fun, whether its a car or a building or whatever. This is absurd.

The last thing I built was the huge $100 Technic car. I still have it somewhere around here, mostly intact. It was the coolest thing I ever created, although the Ice Planet stuff was neat.
