Oh, a little tiny guest house with a handball court, and a little, little swimming pool for fleas or something?

Yes, well, you'll want to get some rest in your rubber bedroom now.

Saw this on StumbleUpon a few weeks ago. Pretty damn amazing stuff! I love the tornado and the volcano is beyond words.

Certainly this guy is receiving persistent calls from curators of the world's finest museums.

But he must have turned them all down. I hear he'll be doing the county fair cicuit this summer instead.

That kind of work shows a resourcefulness that I didn't have even back when I was a virgin.

Heh, we used to build our own out of clay and spare ribs. You wouldn't even believe the amount of spunk that flew when Legos became available.

"But the image comes alive only when the camera is set at the precise point of viewing - giving it an artificially created sense of depth."

Exactly.

fake landscapes are lame. Playing harmonica is not lame.

In TFA it refers to "blue peter style"

makes me think he isn't getting laid from all his efforts...

After seeing this guy's work, I will be more skeptical about anything NOAA or NASA release. CGI already fools me most of the time.

I didn't look at all of them, but the tornado pic in the article makes it very clear that he has never actually seen a tornado in his life, nor studied photos of one very closely. The surrounding cloud formations are completely wrong, for a start. There is no visible sign of wind in the surrounding area either. Not a single leaf blowing through the air even. Similar criticism for the volcano.

That said, the idea is fantastic and he nails the lighting, which is probably why the images catch your eye. But I would not use the word "realistic" to describe these pics.

I wouldn't bet on that, mate.

Barry Zuckerkorn: Those are balls.
Wayne Jarvis: What?
Narrator: Barry was right. Tobias had inadvertently photographed himself while learning how to use his new camera phone.
Barry Zuckerkorn: This close, they always look like landscape. But nope, you're looking at balls.
