Mr Roach said he planned to fight his $75 ticket in court

Good for him. And then he can get his ticket overturned, pay his court fee, and walk away smug with the knowledge that the city didn't get to take advantage of him in the slightest.

2010-02-27 09:49:55 AM
And THEN they all got ticketed for driving their cars in the Designated Carpool Lane to Hell.

Sad, really.

Fail, retard. Read the signs, park legally, it aint that tough. Then again, it is queensland, home of the illiterate.

Try living in Sydney, it's a minefield, yet we all seem to do it without getting booked.

A Brisbane City Council spokeswoman said 15 minute parking restrictions applied on event days from noon-11pm unless signed.

I wonder where one is supposed to park on event days? 15 minutes isn't really time to do much of anything.

Not only that, but if the event starts at say... 8pm, the whole day is still an 'even day', right? So if you park at 1pm (for something totally unrelated to the event) you can only park for 15 minutes even though the event doesn't start until 8pm?

Perhaps they were thinking anyone who's going to go to an AC/DC concert is so old they'd be living in a nursing home and the home would provide a dropoff/pickup shuttle for the event just like bingo night.

Nobody ever accused AC/DC fans of being the best and the brightest. A large chunk of them are the same folks who pay $50 to watch the WWE on Pay-Per-View, after all.

It is to my understanding that they're back in black.

More to the point, they're back in the back of a Cadillac.

To elucidate further, they're #1 with a bullet... one might even go so far as to say that they're a "power pack."

I saw a kid in my neighborhood the other day, couldn't have been more than 9, wearing an AC/DC shirt... while listening to some cat-strangling R&B stuff on his iPod. I wanted to yank the kid's earbuds out and ask him, "Do you even know what the fark AC/DC _is_?"

FTFA: "I drove up to an officer and said 'where do I park?'," Mr Roach said.

"He pointed up the street and said 'anywhere you can find a space'."

I love how the officer points him to the restricted parking spaces when it's pretty clear that anyone looking for a spot at sometime close to gate opening is looking for parking for several hours. "Sure, park in the restricted parking. My buddies are already counting your citation fees in their next Christmas bonus."

Yeah they did and the concert f-ing rocked. Yeah, Angus has lost a step and Brian Johnson's voice sounds more like Scrappy-Doo than ever, but the band was tight and the sound was huge. A damn impressive show.

"I didn't think parking officers worked past 6pm. They must have decided to make a special effort."

Yes, they should have found legal spots but that is definitely a shakedown.

usually, if you notice someone parking illegally (across a driveway, near a fire pump, etc) where i live, you have to BEG an officer to come down and tow/ticket. 90% of the time you get the brush off.

The only place they are active are along the commercial strip during daytime hours. beyond that, its do as you please.

Its NOT about enforcing the law. its about returning the biggest fines with smallest effort.

They wont put in effort for one car, but they will for 10.

I'm pretty sure that's entrapment. And I mean that in the real sense of entrapment, not "the cops set a trap for me, so that's entrapment" sense.

Seriously? I totally missed it. I guess I just burned out on ACDC sometime in the late 80's. You can only listen to problem child so many times before it get monotonous. Plus, I can't stand watching that Angus dude rocking back and forth anymore. Don't know why I thought it was cool back then.
