When I read the headline,I thought, "What kind of punk kids would so something as senseless as vandalize an Andy Griffith staute?" 5 years ago or so, I would have laughed at this... I'm getting old.

What is it with Andy Griffith statues and vandalism? Several years ago his Andy and Opie statue in Pullen Park in Raleigh was also vandalized.

Could this be a case of disgruntled senior citizens disappointed in the number of hours of Matlock re-runs prior to early-bird buffet availability at the local Denny's?
