Zomg I farking did this the other day. It was pouring and I went inside the store for something to drink while filling up, and I came back and got in the car as soon as I could to get out of the rain. I drove off, but the nozzle was still attached to the gas pump, not my car when I stopped, which was almost immediately. I have never felt more stupid.

/Yes, I am a woman.
//Cool story sis?

If the M.A.D.D sponsored anti drunk driving commercials have taught me anything, it's that only white men drink and drive.

2010-02-25 01:06:08 PM
To be fair, being drunk can almost make men drive as badly as women. Almost.

Before I clicked the link I assumed that the guy must have been absolutely BOMBED to drive off with a hose still in his car. But .13? Really? I mean, we're all a little stupider when we drink, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't make a mistake like that at .13. .2 and above, though, are a different story...

Hit an orange barrel with my side mirror when the lanes were merging. At around 65 MPG. Broke the mirror off.

Funny headline because men actually cause more accidents. Don't believe me? Call your insurance company and get a quote for a 25 year old male and a 25 year old female for an identical car.

Whats funny about my story is that it was a rental car. Because the previous week I had ran over a bicycle in the middle of the interstate in my own car. Talk about severe damage to a car. Left front was torn apart completely.

I've only seen one person do this in my life, it was in fact a woman. She simply got out of the car, took the nozzle out, looked around, dropped it on the ground and drove off.

I almost did this once. I pumped my gas, got into the car, and checked both side mirrors as I've done every single time I've pumped gas since getting my license. For the first time ever, I saw the nozzle still there. I don't know how I missed, I guess because I'd been driving for hours and was tired. I'm just glad I'm in the habit of always checking.

The one I saw last fall just threw the nozzle/hose into the back of his truck and drove off. I actually saw that one happen, but couldn't catch him to tell him about his "problem". Someone else flagged him down, and he pulled over about four blocks or so down the road, tossed it in his truck, and went on his merry way. I just laughed as I passed him.

This generally only happens to idiots who don't stay at the pump when they're pumping gas.

You DO NOT get back into your car when you start pumping. STAY AT THE PUMP, you retard!

I don't care HOW cold it is outside. It's just ignorant & dangerous to walk away from a running fuel pump.

If you start the pump, sit back in your car, and then drive away when you hear the pump stop, you should have your DL revoked. You're not smart enough to operate a motor vehicle.

You all give women a hard time with this and it's not fair. The ENTIRE state of Oregon is clueless as how to pump gas.

When I worked up there back in the mid 90s I did a stint as a gas station attendant. It's a law up there that you can't pump you're own gas; it creates jobs or something like that.

At least 3-4 times per week, if not more, some asshat would hear the click of the pump stopping and just drive off with the hose in the tank.

I don't know who causes more accidents, but I'd be willing to bet the males from 16-25 also cause more severe accidents than women of the same age group.

And the accident rate relates somehow to not being able to properly use a pump?

If people knew how to pump gas the right way, this would never even happen. You don't go inside a car because OMG it's cold out, or go inside a building to do random crap when you're pumping. How big of a gas tank do oyu have that it takes more than around 5 minutes?

This is a pretty common thing, actually. That's why dispenser hoses have break-aways. I don't think there is any gender discrimination on it though. Driving off with the hose knows no boundaries of gender, race, ethnicity or intelligence.

That said, it's always the old folks who try to stuff money into the credit card slots (or any other crevice) on the dispensers.

For the dozens of forwards I've received that slam on women drivers...I have seen 3 people drive off without removing the nozzle -- every one of them was a male in a pickup.

Saw some middle aged dude happily driving along with a gas pump hose sticking out of his truck in Beavercreek, OH. We honked and motioned toward it but he just waved.

And in my experience, everyone is a bad driver, but it takes a special kind of air head to drive off with a seven foot hose sticking out of your vehicle...

FTFY

Though the rates aren't as different between the sexes as they used to be. Women are having more expensive accidents now, because the odd fender-bender they used to get into now costs $3,000 to fix.
