Why on earth do people give their passwords to boyfriends or girlfriends? Has that ever ended well?

2010-02-25 11:36:54 AM
Here's a nice gem from the article:

Ironically, Franco, 38 and his ex-girlfriend Zamora-Anderson, 30 met on Facebook in November 2008, when he posed as a 29-year-old English teacher from Queens College, where Zamora-Anderson blogged about taking classes, she said.

So he lied about being an English teacher? And she took the bait, because she was flattered by being hit on by an English teacher

---does not compute---

CarriePrejean: Why on earth do people give their passwords to boyfriends or girlfriends? Has that ever ended well?

You know, my girlfriend and I have had each other's passwords for ten years and through two breakups, and both of us have amazingly refrained from using those passwords for anything untoward.

As a serious response, opening up each others computer/checking email when the other is in the bathroom - not that it's a frequent occurrence, but it has happened to each of us more than once.

Social networking is becoming more trouble than it's worth. I almost never log in to fb anymore because I know I'll regret it when I do. It's getting as silly and tiresome as myspace.

She's a housekeeper. What does not compute? (Most housekeepers need to be taught a lesson by a teacher.)

I have the same set up, it allows my wife to update my facebook and I can dictate emails, kinda like she's my secretary. You know, the only office work a woman should be doing.

From the article:
But she stood by her man, especially after he claimed to have taped her during steamy sex sessions, the complaint says.

Police: Miss we are going to do everything we can to retrieve those tapes, could you please describe the activity going on in them so as to help with our investigation?

THIS

a couple of my friends have started with farmville. really don't want to hide them but had to do that to a friend who went ape shiat over mafia wars. the recent commercial where the dad is clueless about the pre teen son's facebook group makes me think facebbok has jumped the shark as a useful way to keep up with friends.

Same here. My GF is sort of pissed that I don't want her as a friend. I guess I'm sort of old school and think there should be some barriers. 15 years ago you wouldn't hand out her business card and contact info to every random person you knew. Why start now?

I would, but then again my business cards don't have pictures of me puking over balcony railings or results from my How Manly Are You?, How Big Are Your Breasts and Which Soda Popper Are You? quizzes. Well okay, mine do, but you know what I mean.

borg7of9: Social networking is becoming more trouble than it's worth. I almost never log in to fb anymore because I know I'll regret it when I do. It's getting as silly and tiresome as myspace.

I had a Facebook account for approximately three months. People nattering away about things like: "I'm getting ready to do my laundry!" Or asking me to join all the stupid games, etc.

When my(biatch)sister tried to friend me the same day a friend of mine reamed me out about my "attitude" (I don't even know what brought that on) on Facebook that was put on my wall so that all could see, I said fark it, I'm done, and closed the damn account.

Now a group of my friends have been whining about me taking myself off of Facebook. shiat.

Maybe because she's not a native English speaker and was flattered by it, or thought he could help her with her English. And he lied about his age. What a nutbag.

I never got into MySpace, but eventually created a Facebook account as a kind of lazy person's contact list. Most of the people I know or care about are on there, so if I really need to get a hold of someone it's become easier than email in that the address never changes and my messages rarely get eaten by a spam filter.

Since they opened up XMPP for messaging, I have integrated FB chat into Pidgin and rarely log on to the actual Facebook site anymore.

Not to be a facebook fanboi, but a lot of you seem really burned by Facebook. Is it something you said on there that made you so embarrassed?

Although I don't feel a bit of remorse over this article.
